Signe Førre
Signe Elisabeth Lygre Førre (born 3 May 1994 in Voss, Norway) is a Norwegian singer, upright bassist, and composer. Førre studies jazz at Voss Jazzskule. Her debut concert as band leader was at Vossajazz 2014 with Signe Førre Band. The lineup in addition to Førre, was saxophonist Elisabeth Lid Trøen, pianist Eivind Austad, and drummer Håkon Mjåset Johansen. In 2015 she played with the band Peace, Love and Swing, at Vossajazz, showing herself as composer. At the 2018 Vossajazz Førre appeared with her own trio playing a mixture of standards, her own compositions, and old folk tunes. The trio comprised additional pianist Erlend Slettevoll and drummer Håkon Mjåset Johansen. Voss () is a municipality and a traditional district in Vestland county, Norway. The administrative center of the municipality is the village of Vossevangen. Other villages include Bolstadøyri, Borstrondi, Evanger, Kvitheim, Mjølfjell, Oppheim, Stalheim, and Vinje. The municipality is the 35th largest by area of Norway's 356 municipalities. Jazz is a music genre that originated in the African-American communities of New Orleans, Louisiana in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, with its roots in blues and ragtime. Since the 1920s Jazz Age, it has been recognized as a major form of musical expression in traditional and popular music. Hordaland
Hordaland () was a county in Norway, bordering Sogn og Fjordane, Buskerud, Telemark, and Rogaland counties. Hordaland was the third largest county, after Akershus and Oslo, by population. Erlend Slettevoll
Erlend Slettevoll (born 26 October 1981) is a Norwegian jazz pianist, known from cooperation with musicians like Ola Kvernberg, Petter Wettre, Heidi Skjerve, Kjetil Møster, Steinar Raknes and Espen Aalberg. Career Slettevoll was born in Volda and is a graduate of the jazz program at Trondheim Musikkonservatorium (2001–05). He was first recognized as member of the band The Core together with fellow students in Trondheim, Kjetil Møster, Steinar Raknes and Espen Aalberg. Later he worked with musicians like Petter Wettre and Heidi Skjerve. Grand General is the latest project including Slettevoll. Having played a few gigs as Kenneth Kapstad Group this lineup released their debut album ''Grand General'' in 2013. Violinist Ola Kvernberg, who was awarded Spellemannprisen for his album '' Liarbird'', was in the forefront.
