Sigiswanger Horn
The Sigiswanger Horn (also Sigiswangerhorn) is part of the Hörner group in the Allgäu Alps. It reaches a height of 1,527 m and rises between Bolsterlang and Ofterschwang. Like its neighbour, the Rangiswanger Horn, it belongs geologically to the flysch mountains of the Anterior Hörner group (''Vordere Hörnergruppe''), with their numerous boggy meadows and species-rich forested ravines. Description The Sigiswanger Horn is ''"a rarely visited summit, covered in forest"''. The summit of this "Horn" may be climbed in a few minutes from the Panorama Way on the so-called ''Hörner group#Tourism and development, Allgäu Hörner Tour'', which runs between the Ofterschwanger Horn and the Weiherkopf. Only a mossy cairn adorns the summit of the Sigiswanger Horn. When approaching from the north this peak is the second of four on the Hörner tour. The Allgäu (Standard German: , also Allgovia) is a region in Swabia in southern Germany. It covers the south of Bavarian Swabia, southeastern Baden-Württemberg, and parts of Austria. Weiherkopf
The Weiherkopf is a summit in the Hörner Group within the Allgäu Alps in Bavaria, Germany, with a height of . Geography The peak rises within the Nagelfluhkette Nature Park. To the north is Immenstadt, to the east Fischen im Allgäu. To the southeast lies Oberstdorf and to the west is Balderschwang. Near the summit are the neighbouring peaks of the Bolsterlanger Horn to the southwest and the Rangiswanger Horn to the north. Grünten
Grünten (also, ''Watcher of the Allgäu'') is a mountain of Bavaria, Germany. On the summit is a Gebirgsjäger monument, dedicated to German mountain troopers killed in World War One. Not far from there, on the lower crest, is a radio tower of the Bavarian Broadcasting Corporation. The cable car connecting the village of Rettenberg and the radio tower was closed to the public in 2014 and is now only used to transport material or members of staff up to the radio tower. Waymark
Trail blazing or way marking is the practice of marking paths in outdoor recreational areas with signs or markings that follow each other at certain, though not necessarily exactly defined, distances and mark the direction of the trail. A blaze in the beginning meant "a mark made on a tree by slashing the bark" (''The Canadian Oxford Dictionary''). Snowshoe
Snowshoes are specialized outdoor gear for walking over snow. Their large footprint spreads the user's weight out and allows them to travel largely on top of rather than through snow. Adjustable bindings attach them to appropriate winter footwear. Traditional snowshoes have a hardwood frame filled in with rawhide latticework. Modern snowshoes are made of lightweight metal, plastic, and other synthetic materials. In the past, snowshoes were essential equipment for anyone dependent on travel in deep and frequent snowfall, such as fur trappers. They retain that role in areas where motorized vehicles cannot reach or are inconvenient to use. However, their greatest contemporary use is for recreation. Snowshoeing is easy to learn and in appropriate conditions is a relatively safe and inexpensive recreational activity. Allgäu Alps
The Allgäu Alps (german: Allgäuer Alpen) are a mountain range in the Northern Limestone Alps, located in Bavaria and Baden-Württemberg in Germany and Tyrol and Vorarlberg in Austria. The range lies directly east of Lake Constance. Character The mountain range is characterised by an unusual variety of rock formations and consequently a rich tapestry of landscapes, in particular, the steep " grass mountains" (''Grasberge'') of the Allgäu Alps with gradients of up to 70°.
