Sigappu Thali
''Sigappu Thali'' () is a 1988 Indian Tamil-language film, starring Charan Raj, Ramki, Nishanthi and Saranya Plot Periya Thoppu Panaiyar (Jaiganesh) is the generous and well-loved head of the village. He's raised his daughter Kalamani ( Nishanthi) to be an outspoken tomboy. Periya Thoppu has a wastrel, womanizing younger brother, Chinna Thoppu (R. P. Viswam). Sadayan (Charan Raj) runs errands for the locals and lives off the generosity of the villagers. He is orphaned the son of a Devadasi and is often treated poorly because of that. Sadayan is generally kind-hearted but becomes very belligerent when he's drunk. Kalamani falls in love with Pandikaalai (Ramki) when she attends the boxing classes he teaches. Not knowing this, Periya Thoppu arranges her marriage with someone else. Chinna Thoppu uses this situation to his benefit. Ramakrishnan, better known by his stage name Ramki, is an Indian actor best known for his work in Tamil and Telugu films. He made his debut in ''Chinna Poove Mella Pesu'' (1987). Shankar–Ganesh is an Indian music director duo who has worked on Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada movies for around 50 years. Career They started as assistants to Tamil music composers M. S. Viswanathan and T. K. Ramamoorthy in 1964 and later the duo assisted M.S.Viswanathan alone from 1965 till 1967. A mangala sutra (), or thaali (ISO: ''tāḷi''), is a necklace that the groom ties around the bride's neck in the Indian subcontinent, in a ceremony called ''Mangalya Dharanam'' (). Jai Ganesh (1946 – 11 February 2001) was an Indian Tamil film actor. He had supporting roles in the films ''Aval Oru Thodar Kathai'' and ''Attukara Alamelu'', among others. His most popular roles have been as a supporting actor or as a villain in films such as '' Thaayillamal Naan Illai'' (1979) and ''Athisaya Piravi'' (1990). He was introduced into the film industry by director K. Balachander in ''Aval Oru Thodar Kathai''. From then on, he acted in many films as hero and also as character actor. Devadasi
In India, a devadasi was a female artist who was dedicated to the worship and service of a deity or a temple for the rest of her life. The dedication took place in a ceremony that was somewhat similar to a marriage ceremony. In addition to taking care of the temple and performing rituals, these women also learned and practiced classical Indian artistic traditions such as Bharatanatyam, Mohiniyattam, Kuchipudi, and Odissi.
