Siena Saints Men's Basketball
The Siena Saints men's basketball team (formerly the Siena Indians) represents Siena College in Loudonville, New York, United States. The NCAA Division I program competes in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference and the annual Franciscan Cup. The Saints are currently coached by Carmen Maciariello. He was named the program's 18th head coach in school history on March 25, 2019. Siena plays its home games at the 14,500 all-seater MVP Arena in downtown Albany. Since 1988, the team has appeared in six NCAA Tournaments ( 1989, 1999, 2002, 2008, 2009 and 2010) and five NIT Tournaments (1988, 1991, 1994, 2000, and 2003). Siena has advanced to the Round of 32 three times in program history. In 1989 they defeated 3rd seeded Stanford 80–78. Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference
The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC, ) is a collegiate athletic conference affiliated with NCAA Division I. Of its current 11 full members, 10 are located in three states of the northeastern United States: Connecticut, New Jersey, and New York. The other member is in Maryland. Members are all relatively small private institutions, a majority Catholic or formerly Catholic, with the only exceptions being two secular institutions: Rider University and Quinnipiac University. The MAAC currently sponsors 25 sports and has 17 associate member institutions. National Invitation Tournament
The National Invitational Tournament (NIT) is a men's college basketball tournament operated by the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). Played at regional sites and traditionally at Madison Square Garden (Final Four) in New York City each March and April, it was founded in 1938 and was originally the most prestigious post-season showcase for college basketball. The 2021 tournament, in which all games were played in Denton and Frisco, Texas, marked the first time that the NIT's semifinals and championship games were not hosted at Madison Square Garden; MSG won't play host to the games entirely starting in 2023. Doremus Bennerman
Doremus Tremayne Bennerman (born July 5, 1972) is an American former professional basketball player. College Bennerman played at Siena between 1990 and 1994. He is one of only two players in program history to score over 2,000 points (2,109). In the 1993–94 season, Doremus led the Saints to the semifinals of the National Invitational Tournament (NIT). In the third place game against Kansas State, Bennerman scored a school-record 51 points and made 27 of 30 free throw attempts. He scored 174 points in 5 NIT games and was selected as the tournament MVP. Bennerman's 174 points in the NIT remain a tournament record. Kansas State Wildcats Men's Basketball
The Kansas State Wildcats men's basketball team represents Kansas State University in college basketball competition. The program is classified in the NCAA Division I, and is a member of the Big 12 Conference. The head coach is Jerome Tang. The program began competition in 1902. The Bradley Braves men's basketball team represents Bradley University, located in Peoria, Illinois, in NCAA Division I basketball competition. They compete as a member of the Missouri Valley Conference. The Braves are currently coached by Brian Wardle and play their home games at Carver Arena. The Tulane Green Wave are the athletic teams that represent Tulane University, located in New Orleans, Louisiana. The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets men's basketball team represents the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets in NCAA Division I basketball. The team plays its home games in McCamish Pavilion on the school's Atlanta campus and is currently coached by Josh Pastner. Cremins led his team to the first ACC tournament victory in school history in 1985 and in 1990 he took Georgia Tech to the school's first Final Four appearance ever. Marc Brown (born July 5, 1969) is an American basketball coach and retired professional player. He is currently head basketball coach at New Jersey City University. He played professionally for 15 years following an All-American college career at Siena College. College career Brown, a point guard, played basketball at Columbia High School in Maplewood, New Jersey, graduating in 1987, and played collegiately at Siena. As a sophomore, Brown led Siena to its first NCAA tournament appearance in 1989 then led the 14th-seeded Saints to a first round upset over 3 seed Stanford. Brown scored 32 points, handed out 6 assists, and hit the winning free throws in the 80–78 victory. He was named an honorable mention All-American by the Associated Press that year.
