''Siege'' is a 1925 American silent drama film directed by Svend Gade and starring Virginia Valli, Eugene O'Brien, and Mary Alden Mary Maguire Alden (June 18, 1883 – July 2, 1946) was an American motion picture and stage actress. She was one of the first Broadway actresses to work in Hollywood. Life Alden was born in New York City on June 18, 1883. She performed on Br .... Plot As described in a film magazine review, a strong willed woman rules over her relatives and the town with an iron hand. She is the owner of a large industrial plant. No one has ever dared to oppose her until her son Kenyon appears with his wife Frederika. The wife is a modern young woman and just as dominant a personality, and she refuses to be cowed by her mother-in-law. Helen Dunbar (born Katheryn Burke Lackey; October 10, 1863 – August 28, 1933) was an American theatrical performer and silent film actress. Career Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Dunbar first appeared with the Weber & Fields Stock Company, when it began its career on the New York stage. In 1899 she appeared in ''Whirl-i-gig'' and ''The Other Way'' at the Weber and Fields Broadway Music Hall. She also worked with the Charles Dillingham Company and the Boston Opera Company. She appeared in motion pictures beginning in 1912 and continued until 1926. Her stage and screen career extended over thirty-five years.
