Sidney Gusman
Sidney Gusman (born August 29, 1966, in São Paulo) is a Brazilian journalist and editor. Gusman graduated in journalism at the Methodist University of São Paulo and started writing professionally about comics in 1990, with articles published in newspapers such as Folha de S.Paulo, O Estado de S. Paulo, among others, as well as magazines such as Imprensa, Superinteressante, Duas Rodas etc. Between 2003 and 2006 he was editor of the Brazilian version of Wizard magazine. In 2006, he became responsible for the Editorial Planning area of Mauricio de Sousa Produções, where, among several other projects, he was the creator of the Graphic MSP series, which since 2012 has published several graphic novels with reinterpretations of the classic characters created by Mauricio de Sousa by several Brazilian artists. Troféu HQ Mix
Troféu HQ Mix is a Brazilian comics award. The prize was created in 1989 by João Gualberto Costa (Gual) and José Alberto Lovetro (Jal), members of the Association of the Brazilian Cartoonists. The name refers to the television show about comics that Gual and Jal had in the 1980s: "HQ" is abbreviation of "História em Quadrinhos" ("Comics" in Brazilian Portuguese Brazilian Portuguese (' ), also Portuguese of Brazil (', ) or South American Portuguese (') is the set of varieties of the Portuguese language native to Brazil and the most influential form of Portuguese worldwide. Prêmio Angelo Agostini
Prêmio Angelo Agostini (Angelo Agostini Award), sometimes also called Troféu Angelo Agostini (Angelo Agostini Trophy), is the most traditional comics award in Brazil. It was created in 1985 by the Associação dos Quadrinhistas e Caricaturistas do Estado de São Paulo (AQC-ESP), which still organizes the event today. The award's name pays homage to Angelo Agostini, considered at the time the pioneer artist of Brazilian comics. Mauricio De Sousa
Mauricio Araújo de Sousa (; born October 27, 1935) is a Brazilian cartoonist and businessman who has created over 200 characters for his popular series of children's comic books named "Turma da Mônica" or "Monica's Gang (Currently known as: Monica and friends)". At 17 years of age, he worked for a daily newspaper called ''Folha de S. Paulo, Folha da Manhã'' as a crime reporter. In 1959, Sousa quit that job and began his comic book career, and created ''Monica's Gang''. Sousa's characters were inspired by children he knew from his childhood and by his own children. His later style is slightly reminiscent of that of Osamu Tezuka, a famous Japanese Mangaka, manga artist and personal friend.
