"Side by Side" is a download-only single by the British rock band Feeder. The song was released on 27 March 2011 to support victims of the 2011 Tōhoku earthquake and tsunami in Japan. Background "Side by Side" was written and demoed during the sessions for '' Renegades'' under the title "Barbarella". Feeder are a Welsh rock band formed in Newport in 1994. They have released 11 studio albums, 12 compilations, four EPs and 43 singles, spending a combined total of 184 weeks on the singles and albums charts as of 2019, while accumulating 25 top 75 singles between 1997 and 2012. At their peak of commercial success, Feeder won two Kerrang! Awards in 2001 and 2003; they were inducted into their Hall of Fame in August 2019 for “Distinguished Services to Rock”. Feeder are one of the Britpop era bands to have continued success long after their peak. Grant Nicholas
Grantley Jonathan "Grant" Nicholas (born 12 November 1967) is a Welsh musician, and lead singer and guitarist of the rock band Feeder. Early years Nicholas was born in Newport, South Wales, but grew up in Pwllmeyric, near Chepstow. He was educated at Monmouth School. He performed in public for the first time at the age of 11 at school, and gained four O-levels (the predecessor to GCSEs), including an A grade in Art. In school, Nicholas played the trumpet, and joined his first band, Sweet Leaf (named after a song by Black Sabbath, who were his favourite band in his school years, and the first he saw play live, at the Colston Hall in Bristol). He was promised his first guitar by his parents, as an incentive to pass his exams. He received the guitar, an Aron Les Paul copy after passing them. "Down to the River / This Town" are two songs on a double A-sided single by Feeder, released as the group's third and final single from their seventh album '' Renegades'' in 2010, while being their 31st single overall and their third double A-sided single after the 2008 release of " Tracing Lines / Silent Cry". Both tracks like the majority of the ''Renegades'' album, started off life as tracks first performed live under their Renegades side-project name, but were both only released commercially as Feeder tracks. "Down to the River" is the longest track on the ''Renegades'' album, running at 5 minutes and 23 seconds being edited down to 4 minutes for single release, while "This Town" has a running time of 2 minutes and 57 seconds. "Borders" is a song by Feeder, released as the group's first single from their eighth album ''Generation Freakshow'' in 2012. The single charted at No. 52 in the UK, giving the group their 25th top 75 single and first UK chart visit since 2008's " We Are the People". The song was released on CD, cassette and 7" on 30 January 2012, with the parent album ''Generation Freakshow'' on 23 April 2012. This was the first time Feeder released a cassette single since 2001's "Just a Day". Reception According to trade magazine ''Music Week'', "Borders" charted at No. 52 with 4,663 sales. That week "Borders" sold 2,978 copies digitally, with 644 on CD, 574 on 7" and 467 on cassette, giving total physical sales of 1,685. ''Renegades'' is the seventh studio album by Welsh rock band Feeder. It was released on 5 July 2010. It was the first in a proposed series of two albums to be released in 2010 by the band, before its follow-up was delayed until 2012. It is also the first studio album not to be released on The Echo Label, and also their first since 2002's ''Comfort In Sound'' not to feature drummer Mark Richardson, who left the band the previous year. ''Generation Freakshow'' is the eighth studio album by Welsh rock band Feeder. It was released on 23 April 2012. It was due to be the second in a series of two albums released in 2010 by the band, following up previous album ''Renegades''. However, the band decided to hold more recording sessions for the album, leading them to delay the album until 2012. Recording and production In 2010, during the ''Renegades'' sessions, a number of tracks were left off the album before then being considered for inclusion for the follow-up to that album. As there were not enough to fit on the album, more were recorded during the closing stages of the year, with the band taking a break from recording on 19 December, before resuming recording on 10 January 2011.
