Sid Smith (lacrosse)
Sid Smith (born July 24, 1986 in Six Nations, Ontario) is an Iroquois lacrosse player who plays for the Rochester Knighthawks of the National Lacrosse League. Junior career Smith played for the Six Nations Arrows of the OLA Junior A Lacrosse League. Smith would lead the Arrows to four straight league championships. Smith won the John "Gus" McCauley Memorial Trophy as the league’s Defender of the Year in both 2006 and 2007. In 2006, he also won the Jim Bishop Memorial Award as the Most Sportsmanlike Player in the Minto Cup Tournament. In 2007, Smith won the B.W. "Bill" Evans Award for the league's Top Graduating Player and the Dean McLeod Award as the league's Playoffs Most Valuable Player. Smith also captained the 2007 team to Six Nations' first Minto Cup national championship since 1992. Rochester Knighthawks
The Rochester Knighthawks (also known as the K-Hawks) are a professional box lacrosse team in the North Division of the National Lacrosse League. They play in Rochester, New York at the Blue Cross Arena at the War Memorial. The Knighthawks are owned by Pegula Sports and Entertainment who purchased the intellectual property of the team from former owner Curt Styres who moved the previous version of the team to Halifax, Nova Scotia as the Halifax Thunderbirds at the end of the 2018–2019 season. As an expansion team they are not a continuation of the previous Knighthawks. All records and championships followed the original franchise to Halifax. Lacrosse is a team sport played with a lacrosse stick and a lacrosse ball. The Ontario Junior Lacrosse League (OJLL) is considered the most competitive Junior A men's box lacrosse league in the world and the number one source for talent for the National Lacrosse League (NLL). The Ontario Junior B Lacrosse League (OJBLL) is a box lacrosse league sanctioned by the Ontario Lacrosse Association in Canada. The league features twenty-five teams in Ontario, one in Quebec, and one in the Akwesasne (which straddles the two aforementioned provinces and New York) that annually play a 20-game schedule and four rounds of playoffs for the J. The Mann Cup is the trophy awarded to the senior men's box lacrosse champions of Canada.
