Sicily Nation
Sicily Nation ( it, Sicilia Nazione, SN) is a separatist Italian political party active in Sicily. The party was founded in January 2015 by Gaetano Armao, a former regional minister of Economy under President Raffaele Lombardo, and Rino Piscitello, a long-time politician ( Proletarian Unity Party, Proletarian Democracy, The Network, The Democrats, Democracy is Freedom, Democratic Party) who had lately been the secretary of Lombardo's Party of Sicilians. The party aimed at the transformation of Sicily into a nation confederated to Italy or an independent country. In January 2017 SN was a founding member of the Sicilian National Movement (MNS), along with the Sicilian Independence Movement (re-edition of the separatist party which was active after World War II) and the Sicilian National Front. Separatism
Separatism is the advocacy of cultural, ethnic, tribal, religious, racial, governmental or gender separation from the larger group. Sicilian National Movement
The Sicilian National Movement ( it, Movimento Nazionale Siciliano, MNS) is a separatist coalition of parties active in Sicily. The coalition was launched in November 2016 and officially founded in January 2017. Its three founding members were: Sicily Nation (SN), the Movement for the Independence of Sicily (MIS; re-edition of the separatist party which was active after World War II) and the Sicilian National Front (FNS). Since its foundation, the MNS supported Gaetano Armao, SN leader, for President of Sicily in the 2017 regional election. Sicilian Independence Movement
The Movement for the Independence of Sicily ( it, Movimento per l'Indipendenza della Sicilia, scn, Muvimentu pâ Nnipinnenza dâ Sicilia, MIS) was a separatist Sicilian political party originally active in Sicily from 1943 to 1951. Its best electoral result was in 1947, when it won 8.8% of the votes in the Sicilian regional election and had nine regional deputies elected. The party was supported by Sicilians from a very wide of political stances: both conservatives and socialists were involved at some point. The purpose was first to gain independence for Sicily.
