"Si Te Vas" (''"If You Go"'') is a song written and performed by Mexican singer-songwriter Pedro Fernández. The song was released in 1995 as the second single from his album '' Mi Forma De Sentir'' (1994). The song was recognized by Broadcast Music, Inc. as one of the award winnings at the 1997 BMI Latin Awards. José Martín Cuevas Cobos (born September 28, 1969), known by his stage name Pedro Fernández, is a Mexican singer, songwriter, actor, and television host. Fernández began his international career as ''Pedrito'' Fernández at the age of seven. Fernández has recorded thirty-nine albums, acted in seven soap operas, and twenty five films. Salsa Music
Salsa music is a style of Latin American music. Because most of the basic musical components predate the labeling of salsa, there have been many controversies regarding its origin. Most songs considered as salsa are primarily based on son montuno, with elements of Mambo (music), mambo, Latin jazz, Bomba (Puerto Rico), bomba, plena and guaracha. All of these elements are adapted to fit the basic son montuno template when performed within the context of salsa. Tropical Airplay is a chart published by ''Billboard'' magazine that ranks the top-performing songs (regardless of genre or language) on tropical radio stations in the United States, based on weekly airplay data compiled by Nielsen's Broadcast Data Systems (BDS). It is a subchart of Hot Latin Songs, which lists the best-performing Spanish-language songs in the country. In 1998, 15 songs topped the chart, in 50 issues of the magazine. Due to damage to the BDS monitors in Puerto Rico caused by Hurricane Georges, the Tropical Airplay chart, along with the other Latin song charts, was not published in the issues dated October 10 and October 17. At the start of the year, Gisselle was at number one with her first chart-topper "Quiero Estar Contigo". Ángel "Cucco" Peña (born September 1, 1948) is a composer, musician, singer, and record producer. Early years Born in Santurce, a district in the Puerto Rican capital San Juan, Peña and his two siblings became interested in music at an early age. RMM Records, also known as RMM Records & Video Corp, was an independent Latin music record label established in 1987 and based in New York City. The label was most active during the late 1980s and early 1990s and produced primarily salsa, Latin jazz, and merengue music. At its peak, RMM Records employed 55 staff members and had distribution deals in 42 cities around the world, occupying 9,000 square feet in two floors at its Soho headquarters. ''Contra la Corriente'' (''Against the Current'') is the third studio album released by American singer Marc Anthony on October 21, 1997 by RMM Records. The album was produced by Puerto Rican musician Angel "Cucco" Peña, with most of the songs written by Panamanian composer Omar Alfanno.
