SiGNS Film Festival
SiGNS Film Festival is one of the short film and documentary film festivals in India. The tenth edition was conducted in October 2018 in association with the Kochi-Muziris Biennale Festival organization FFSI-Keralam is one of the five chapters of the Federation of Film Societies of India started by Satyajit Ray. Unlike the other four (namely, Eastern, Western, Northern, and Southern India), FFSI-Keralam is a State chapter. It is funded by the government of Kerala, has its own library of film DVDS, and has 99 film societies affiliated to it, in addition to hosting its own film festival. Chelavur Venu, V. K. Joseph, and K.S. Prasannakumar are the president, secretary, and treasurer, respectively. Kochi-Muziris Biennale
The Kochi-Muziris Biennale is an international exhibition of contemporary art held in the city of Kochi in Kerala, India. It is the largest art exhibition in the country and the biggest contemporary art festival in Asia. The Kochi-Muziris Biennale is an initiative of the Kochi Biennale Foundation with support from the Government of Kerala. The concept of Kochi-Muziris Biennale was ideated and executed by Dr. Venu IAS, who was the culture Secretary, Government of Kerala. The exhibition is set in spaces across Kochi, with shows being held in existing galleries, halls, and site-specific installations in public spaces, heritage buildings and disused structures. Riyas Komu
Riyas Komu born in Kerala is a multimedia artist and curator based in Mumbai. He has invested his time in art education and developing art infrastructure in India. Komu's works are inspired by social conflicts and political movements and topics like migration and displacement. His hyper-realistic oil portraits of people resemble socialist-realist propaganda art, with one of his portraits titled “Why Everybody should Look Like Mao”. In 2007, Komu was one of two artists from India selected for the 52nd Venice Biennale by curator Robert Storr. Later, he went on to represent the Iranian Pavilion at the Venice Biennale in 2015. Sunny Joseph (born 12 October 1957) is an Indian cinematographer and director from Kerala, most known for his work in Shaji N. Karun classic, ''Piravi'', for which he won the 1988 Kerala State Film Award for Best Photography and Caméra d'Or — Mention Spéciale at the 1989 Cannes Film Festival. Adoor Gopalakrishnan
Adoor Gopalakrishnan (born 3 July 1941) is an Indian film director, script writer, and producer and is regarded as one of the most notable and renowned filmmakers in India. With the release of his first feature film '' Swayamvaram'' (1972), Gopalakrishnan pioneered the new wave in Malayalam cinema during the 1970s. In a career spanning over five decades, Gopalakrishnan has made only 12 feature films to date. His films are made in the Malayalam language and often depict the society and culture of his native state Kerala. Nearly all of his films premiered at Venice, Cannes and Toronto International Film Festival. Beena Paul
Bina Paul (born January 28, 1961), also known by her married name Bina Paul Venugopal, is an Indian film editor who works mainly in Malayalam-language films. A graduate of the University of Delhi, she completed a course on film editing from the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), Pune, in 1983. Saeed Akhtar Mirza
Saeed Akhtar Mirza (born 30 June 1943) is an Indian screenwriter and director in Hindi films and television. He is the maker of notable parallel films such as ''Mohan Joshi Hazir Ho!'' Chalam Bennurkar
Chalam Bennurkar (died 2017) was an Indian documentary film maker, film activist and director who is best known for his Tamil documentary film Children of Mini-Japan (''Kutty Japanin Kuzhandaigal'') which won the Citizens' Prize and Encouragement Prize in Yamagata International Documentary Film Festival and Golden Dove in International Leipzig Festival for Documentary and Animated Film (Germany), in the year 1991. Vinod Sukumaran
Vinod Sukumaran is an Indian film maker and film editor. He won the National Film Award for Best First Non-Feature Film of a Director for the film ''Diary of a Housewife'' in 2001. He is an alumnus of the Film and Television Institute of India.
