Shyam Manohar Goswami
Shyam Manohar Goswami (IAST: Śyāma Manohara Gosvāmī, Hindi: श्याम मनोहर गोस्वामी, Gujarati: શ્યામ મનોહર ગોસ્વામી) also known as Shyamu Bava (IAST: Śyāmu Bāvā, Hindi: श्यामु बावा, Gujarati: શ્યામુ બાવા), is the 16th descendant of Shri Vallabha Acharya, sanskritists, philosopher, spiritual leader, active reformer & guru of the Krishna-centered Pushtimarg sect of Vaishnavism. He belongs to the first house of the Pushtimarg. His ancestral lineage had settled in Kishangarh by the eighteenth century, and by the nineteeth century his family had moved to Mumbai. He is considered one of the most prominent living theologians of the Vallabha family. He does not maintain a large retinue like other goswamis nor does he travel widely to preach sermons. Bandish
Bandish, cheez or gat is a fixed, melodic composition in Hindustani vocal or instrumental music. It is set in a specific raga, performed with rhythmic accompaniment by a tabla or pakhawaj, a steady drone, and melodic accompaniment by a sarangi, violin or harmonium. There are different ways of systematizing the parts of a composition. A bandish provides the literature element in the music, for standard structured singing. In the past many gharanas protected their bandishes from moving out of the family with gross incoherent vocal renditions. In the realm of vocal music, it is often known as ''cheez''. Haveli Sangeet is a form of Hindustani classical music sung in ''havelis''. The essential component is dhrupad. It originated in Mathura in Braj, northern India. It takes the form of devotional songs sung daily to Krishna by the Pushtimarg sect. Under the survey of All India Radio, Government of India it was realized by learned surveyors that the bandish, khayal sung in various gharanas of Hindustani classical music are derived from Haveli Sangeet where they are sung in complete and original form.
