Shurland David
Shurland David (born 19 August 1974) is a retired football defender and manager from Trinidad and Tobago. Playing career David began his career in 1997 with Joe Public, and later played in the TT Pro League with San Juan Jabloteh. In 2001, he played abroad in the Canadian Professional Soccer League with Ottawa Wizards. Throughout his tenure with Ottawa he achieved a CPSL Championship, and a CPSL League Cup. In 2003, he returned to Trinidad to play with Caledonia AIA, and concluded his career with Starworld Strikers, and East/West Coaching School. International career David made his debut for the national team on 4 January 1998 against the Barbados national team in a friendly match, and made 44 appearances for the national team. In the sport of association football, a defender is an outfield position whose primary role is to stop attacks during the game and prevent the opposition from scoring. 1998 CONCACAF Gold Cup
The 1998 CONCACAF Gold Cup was the fourth edition of the Gold Cup, the soccer championship of North America, Central America and the Caribbean (CONCACAF). The tournament was once again held in the United States, in Los Angeles, Miami, and Oakland. The format of the tournament changed from 1996: it was expanded to ten teams, with four in Group A and three each in Groups B and C. The top team in each group, plus the second place in Group A would advance to the semifinals. Brazil was invited again, and brought their senior team this time. National Super League
The National Super League is a league for semi-professional association football clubs in Trinidad and Tobago. It is the second-highest division of the Trinidad and Tobago football league system. The league currently comprises 19 teams between 2 leagues and operates on a system of relegation between those leagues. Although the Super League champion of each season can apply for membership in the TT Pro League, the two leagues do not operate on an automatic promotion and relegation system. Seasons run from June to December, with League 1 teams playing 22 regular season matches and League 2 teams playing 12. The league was founded in 2003 to allow the best teams from association football to play in a semi-professional environment, as they prepare for life in the professional game.
