Shukar Collective
Shukar Collective (from the Romani word ''Shukar'' or ''Şucar'', meaning "beautiful") is a Romanian musical group which fuses traditional Romani and electronic music. It is especially known for using traditional rhythms employed by the ''Ursari'' section of the Roma minority with contemporary electronic sampling. They generally mix various sounds produced by tapping spoons or other domestic objects with those produced on analog synthesizers. The concept that led to the success of the group belongs to Paul Țanicui, Romanian film director who discovered the Ursari musicians Tamango, Napoleon and Classic that he would later name “Shukar”. Short time after, Romanian musicians Dj Vasile, Dan Handrabur (aka Dreamdoktor), Cristi Stanciu (aka Matze) and Vlaicu Golcea came with the compositions of the first Shukar Collective album, "Taves Bahtalo!"/ "Urban Gypsy". Romani Language
Romani (; also Romany, Romanes , Roma; rom, rromani ćhib, links=no) is an Indo-Aryan macrolanguage of the Romani communities. According to '' Ethnologue'', seven varieties of Romani are divergent enough to be considered languages of their own. The largest of these are Vlax Romani (about 500,000 speakers), Balkan Romani (600,000), and Sinte Romani (300,000). Ursari
The Ursari (generally read as " bear leaders" or "bear handlers"; from the ro, urs, meaning "bear"; singular: ''ursar''; Bulgarian: урсари, ''ursari'') or Richinara are the traditionally nomadic occupational group of animal trainers among the Romani people. An endogamous category originally drawing the bulk of its income from busking performances in which they used dancing bears, usually brown bears and, in several instances, Old world monkeys. An analog (or analogue) synthesizer is a synthesizer that uses analog circuits and analog signals to generate sound electronically. Mircea Florian (; born December 5, 1949), also known as Florian din Transilvania, M. A. N. Florian, Mihai Plămădeală in ''Observator Cultural'', Nr. 463, February 2009 and FloriMAN, Luiza Vasiliu"Berlinul în două zile și ceva", in ''Dilema Veche'', Nr. 368, March 2011 is a Romanian multi-instrumentalist musician, multimedia artist and computer scientist, based in Germany.
