Shrikant (TV Show)
''Shrikant'' is a TV show based on Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyaya's 1917-1933 four volume novel ''Srikanta''. The show aired on Doordarshan in 1987. The show was again telecast on DD National from 30 April 2020 during the lockdown due to coronavirus Synopsis The show tells the story of protagonist Shrikant (Farooque Shaikh). Sujata Mehta plays Raj Lakshmi. She nurses him to health when he is infected by plague. Later during a sea voyage to Burma, he meets Abhaya (Mrinal Kulkarni), a woman abandoned by her husband (Irrfan Khan). In Burma, he receives the devotion of a lodge caretaker played by Sukanya Kulkarni. His love ideal remains Rajlakshmi. Srikanta (book)
''Srikanta'', also spelled ''Srikanto'', is a Bengali novel written by Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay. Published in four parts between 1917 and 1933, It has been described as Sarat Chandra's 'masterpiece'. The novel takes its title after the name of its protagonist, Srikanta, who lives the life of a wanderer. Background In a conversation, Sarat Chandra revealed that the book is partly autobiographical, and his own life experiences provided the basis for the experiences of the protagonist Srikanta; however, he added a caveat: Although not a travelogue, the book is described as involving journeys—both physical and spiritual. On being asked whether he considered Srikanta to be a travelogue, an autobiography, or a novel, Sarat Chandra's reply was: "A collection of scattered memories−nothing else." Doordarshan (abbreviated as DD; Hindi: , ) is an Indian public service broadcaster founded by the Government of India, owned by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and one of Prasar Bharati's two divisions. Farooq Shaikh (25 March 1948 − 28 December 2013) was an Indian actor, philanthropist and television presenter. He was best known for his work in Hindi films from 1973 to 1993 and for his work in television between 1988 and 2002. He returned to acting in films in 2008 and continued to do so until his death on 28 December 2013. His major contribution was in Parallel Cinema or the New Indian Cinema. 2020 India Coronavirus Lockdown
On the evening of 24 March 2020, the Government of India ordered a nationwide lockdown for 21days, limiting movement of the entire 1.38billion (138 crore) population of India as a preventive measure against the COVID-19 pandemic in India.
