Shri Swaminarayan Mandir, Cardiff is a Swaminarayan temple located in the Grangetown area of Cardiff, the capital city of Wales. It is the first and largest Hindu temple in Wales and comes under the NarNarayan Dev Gadi of the Swaminarayan Sampraday. History It is the first Swaminarayan temple in Wales, purchased in 1979, being opened in 1982. At the time, the temple was located in a converted synagogue. Refurbishment Between 2005 and 2007, the temple underwent major refurbishment work, at the cost of £700,000. Koshalendraprasadji Pande (October 1972 – present) is the current acharya of the NarNarayan Dev Gadi of the Swaminarayan Sampraday (15 October 2004 – present) and is the 7th successor of Swaminarayan in the North Diocese (NarNarayan Dev Gadi, Ahmedabad). Biography Koshalendraprasadji Pande was born on 18 October 1972 in Ahmedabad, India. He is the eldest son of Tejendraprasad Pande, the 6th acharya of the NarNarayan Dev Gadi of the Swaminarayan Sampraday. Swaminarayan, the founder of the Swaminarayan Sampraday, established temples, known as ''mandirs'' (Devnagari: मन्दिर), as part of his philosophy of theism and deity worship.
