Wells played Major League Baseball for the Toronto Blue Jays in and for the Minnesota Twins in . Wells also played Nippon Professional Baseball (NPB) for the Orix Buffaloes, Hankyu Braves/Orix Braves/Orix BlueWave and Fukuoka SoftBank Hawks, Fukuoka Daiei Hawks between and .
