''Showcase'' is a comic anthology series published by DC Comics. The general theme of the series was to feature new and minor characters as a way to gauge reader interest in them, without the difficulty and risk of featuring untested characters in their own ongoing titles. ''Showcase'' is regarded as the most successful of such tryout series, having been published continuously for more than 14 years, launching numerous popular titles, and maintaining a considerable readership of its own. The series ran from March–April 1956 to September 1970, suspending publication with issue #93, and then was revived for eleven issues from August 1977 to September 1978. Showcase is a Canadian English-language specialty channel owned by Corus Entertainment. Launched on January 1, 1995, the channel primarily airs scripted and dramatic television series. The Showcase (The Price Is Right)
''The Price Is Right'' is an American television game show created by Bob Stewart, Mark Goodson and Bill Todman where contestants compete by guessing the prices of merchandise to win cash and prizes. Contestants are selected from the studio audience as the announcer calls their names and invokes the show's famous catchphrase, "Come on down!" The program premiered on September 4, 1972, on CBS. Bob Barker was the series' longest-running host from its 1972 debut until his retirement in June 2007, when Drew Carey took over. Barker was accompanied by a series of announcers, beginning with Johnny Olson, followed by Rod Roddy and Rich Fields. In April 2011, George Gray became the announcer. The show has used several models, most notably Anitra Ford, Janice Pennington, Dian Parkinson, Holly Hallstrom, and Kathleen Bradley. Showcase TV was a television channel in the United Kingdom currently run by Information TV and is used to offer smaller specialist channels a place to showcase their programmes, sometimes leading to a full channel launch. It is also used as a placeholder channel and has been used to hold on to lucrative EPG slots from defunct channels which are then sold on at a later date. It has ceased and restarted many times over the years. Not to be confused with a similarly named channel which ceased on 20 August 2007 Life Showcase TV or Showcase TV run by Classic Media Group in March 2017 which was just a programme slot on Sky channel 181, until moving in 2020 to channel 191. Fox Showcase (formerly known as Showcase) is an Australian premium drama cable and satellite television channel. It was initially part of the Showtime Australia channels and was managed by PMP chief executive officer Peter Rose. In 2007 Rose said ''Showcase'' "provides a real home at last for quality drama in Australia, and this list of outstanding event television is just the start". Showcase launched with the Australian TV premieres of '' Dexter'' and Australian-made series '' Satisfaction.'' ''Showcase'' is a studio album by American country music singer Patsy Cline, recorded with The Jordanaires and released November 27, 1961. It was Cline's second studio album and her first since ''Patsy Cline'' in 1957. Background The album produced two singles that became hits on both the ''Billboard'' country and pop charts. The first, "I Fall to Pieces," became Cline's first number one hit on the ''Billboard'' country chart and also reached the Top 15 on the pop Top 100 in 1961. The follow-up single, "Crazy," was nearly as big a hit as "I Fall to Pieces," peaking in the top five on the ''Billboard'' country chart and in the Top 10 on the pop Top 100. "Crazy" was recorded after Cline's month-long hospitalization following a near-fatal car accident that June. ''Showcase'' is a studio album by American country singer-songwriter Bill Anderson. It was released in November 1964 on Decca Records and was produced by Owen Bradley. The album was Anderson's third studio release as a recording artist and second to be released in 1964. It included two singles that became major hits on the '' Billboard'' country chart along with subsequent B-sides. Background and content ''Showcase'' was produced at the Columbia Recording Studio between 1963 and 1964. The venue itself was located in Nashville, Tennessee. All recording sessions were produced by Owen Bradley, whom Anderson had previously collaborated with on his two previous album releases. The album consisted of 12 tracks. Sky Showcase is a British pay television channel which launched on 1 September 2021 along with Sky Max. It is owned and operated by Sky Group, a division of American media company Comcast.
