''Shotgunz In Hell'' is a collaborative studio album by American hardcore hip hop music, hip hop group Onyx (group), Onyx and Dutch hardcore hip hop group Dope D.O.D., released on May 29, 2017, by Onyx & Dope D.O.D. Records. Physical copies of the album became available on July 15, 2017. The album was produced by Dutch producers Tjibz, Nightwatch, Peter Songolo (Jay Reaper's brother), Ezra, Bananaz and Chubeats, and Spanish producer Cookin' Soul. The album features appearances by American rappers Sick Flo, Snak the Ripper, Dope D.O.D.'s ex-member Dopey Rotten and DJ Nelson. Background Onyx first met the group Dope D.O.D. at the "Urbano Festival" in France on June 29, 2012, where both groups performed. After the performance Dope D.O.D.'s Skits Vicious hooked up with Onyx's Fredro Starr and exchanged phone numbers. Onyx (group)
Onyx is an American hardcore hip hop group from South Jamaica, Queens, New York City, formed in 1988 by Fredro Starr, Suavé (also known as Sonny Seeza) and the late Big DS. Sticky Fingaz joined the group in 1991. They are best known for their 1993 platinum hit single "Slam", which ''The Source'' magazine described as a song that introduce the art of slam dancing into hip-hop. The group has released eight studio albums, three of which have charted in the ''Billboard'' 200 albums chart Top 25. Their debut album, ''Bacdafucup'', has been certified platinum, won Best Rap Album at the Soul Train Music Awards and was selected as one of ''The Source'' magazine's 100 Best Rap Albums. ''Platoon'' is a 1986 American war film written and directed by Oliver Stone, starring Tom Berenger, Willem Dafoe, Charlie Sheen, Keith David, Kevin Dillon, John C. McGinley, Forest Whitaker, and Johnny Depp. It is the first film of a trilogy of Vietnam War films directed by Stone, followed by ''Born on the Fourth of July'' (1989) and '' Heaven & Earth'' (1993). Fred Lee Scruggs Jr. (born April 18, 1971), better known by his stage name Fredro Starr, is an American rapper and actor best known as a member of the hardcore rap group Onyx. Fredro Starr was discovered by the late hip hop star Jam Master Jay of Run-D.M.C. who signed Onyx on his label JMJ Records. Onyx went on to release three top selling albums before Fredro began his solo career. Snak the Ripper is a Canadian rapper from British Columbia. Affiliations Snak the Ripper is one of the founding members of the Stompdown Killaz hip hop collective (SDK). As of 2018 Snak is no longer affiliated with SDK. In 2010, he became a member of 100MAD (hip hop collective founded by Fredro Starr and Sticky Fingaz of New York City rap group Onyx). He is also the founder, president and CEO of Stealth Bomb Records. Early years Snak the Ripper got his start in a suburb located near Vancouver. East Coast Hip Hop
East Coast hip hop is a regional subgenre of hip hop music that originated in New York City during the 1970s. Hip hop is recognized to have originated and evolved first in the Bronx, New York City. In contrast to other styles, East Coast hip hop music has prioritized complex lyrics for attentive listening rather than beats for dancing. The term "East Coast hip hop" more specifically denotes hip hop originating from the East Coast of the Northeastern United States; Southeastern states such as Georgia instead fall under the umbrella of Southern hip hop rather than "East Coast hip hop".
