Shotgun (1955 Film)
''Shotgun'' is a 1955 American Western film directed by Lesley Selander and starring Sterling Hayden, Yvonne De Carlo and Zachary Scott. Plot A gang led by Ben Thompson is running guns to the Apaches. Three of them ride into town to ambush two marshals but only succeed in killing one. When the gang later discuss what to do next, Bentley says he prefers to head for California and Thompson tells him to go ahead. Back in town, the other marshal, Clay Hardin, turns his back on his fiancée and a government job so as to go after the gang. Along the trail he comes across Bentley, who had been captured and left to die by Apaches. Also left is Abby, a former saloon worker who is looking for a fresh start in California. Although Hardin frees them, Bentley later tries to shoot Hardin, but is killed by him. Lesley Selander
Lesley Selander (May 26, 1900 – December 5, 1979) was an American film director of Western (genre), Westerns and adventure film, adventure movies. His career as director, spanning 127 feature films and dozens of TV episodes, lasted from 1936 to 1968. Before that, Selander was assistant director on films such as ''The Cat and the Fiddle (film), The Cat and the Fiddle'' (1934), ''A Night at the Opera (film), A Night at the Opera'' (1935), and Fritz Lang's ''Fury (1936 film), Fury'' (1936). Lane Chandler (born Robert Clinton Oakes, June 4, 1899 – September 14, 1972) was an American actor specializing mainly in Western (genre), Westerns. Biography Early life Chandler was raised on a ranch near Culbertson, Montana, the son of a horse rancher. The family relocated to Helena, Montana, when he was a youngster, and he graduated from high school there. He briefly attended Montana Wesleyan College (which later merged and became part of Rocky Mountain College), but quit to drive a tour bus at Yellowstone National Park. Career In the early 1920s he moved to Los Angeles, California, and started working as an auto mechanic. His real-life experiences growing up on a horse ranch landed bit parts for him in westerns from 1925, for Paramount Pictures. Ward Wood
Ward Wood (August 8, 1924 – November 3, 2001), was an American actor and television writer. Wood was probably best known for his recurring role as police Lt. Art Malcolm in the TV series '' Mannix'' from 1968 to 1975. Wood was born in Grangeville, Idaho (where his grandfather had been the county sheriff from 1891 until 1893). He was introduced to acting at an early age in Lewiston, Idaho by his mother and their family moved to California about 1935. He broke into movie acting in 1943, but very quickly took a hiatus to enlist as a Marine in World War II to avenge the death of his brother Charles, who was also an actor and also a Marine, after Charles was killed in action in the Pacific. After the war, Ward Wood returned to acting in 1947, and was active until the early 1980s. He was married to Peggy Jolene Mosley and Lynn Sherman. Ralph Dayton Sanford (May 21, 1899 – June 20, 1963) was an American film actor. He appeared in more than 180 films and in at least 200 episodes on television between 1930 and 1960, mostly bit parts or supporting roles.
