Taipei, Taiwan is known for its large number and variety of shopping streets, markets and malls and has been known to tourists as one of the main "shopping city" in Eastern Asia along with Hong Kong, Seoul, Tokyo, Singapore and Kuala Lumpur. Shopping venues in the city include department stores, malls, underground transit malls, night markets, and shopping districts. Night markets Taipei has many night markets, the most famous and busiest of which is the Shilin Night Market in the Shilin District (accessible from Jiantan Station). Night markets are a popular place for low price eating and shopping. Most night markets in Taiwan open around 4 PM, and crowds reach their peak between during the late evening hours. Taipei (), officially Taipei City, is the capital and a special municipality of the Republic of China (Taiwan). Located in Northern Taiwan, Taipei City is an enclave of the municipality of New Taipei City that sits about southwest of the northern port city of Keelung. Snake Alley (), also known as Huaxi Street Night Market or Huaxi Street Tourist Night Market () is a market in Wanhua District, Taipei, Taiwan. The market is located near the Bangka Lungshan Temple as well as other night markets located on Guangzhou Street, Wuzhou Street and Xichang Street. The Huaxi Night Market is a two-block long night market in Wanhua District, the oldest district of Taipei, Taiwan. It contains stands serving local snacks, and restaurants that serve traditional Taiwanese dishes and many delicacies including snake blood and meat, turtle blood and meat and deer penis wine, which are not normally found anywhere else. Taipei 101
Taipei 101 (; stylized as TAIPEI 101), formerly known as the Taipei World Financial Center, is a supertall skyscraper in Taipei, Taiwan. Taipei City Hall Station
Taipei City Hall () is a metro station in Taipei, Taiwan served by Taipei Metro. Station overview The two-level, underground station structure with an island platform and four exits. The size of the station is larger than most other stations on the Nangang Line. The station is situated under Zhongxiao East Road, between Keelung Road and Songren Road. Washrooms are located outside of the fare area of the station. Due to crowding during New Year's festivities, automatic platform gates have been installed at this station. In recent years, the station has gone through renovations to connect it with a bus transfer station, mall, and hotel above. The Taipei City Hall Bus Station opened for service on 5 August 2010. Zhongxiao Dunhua (, formerly transliterated as Chunghsiao Tunhua Station until 2003) is a metro station in Taipei, Taiwan served by Taipei Metro. Zhongxiao Fuxing Station
Zhongxiao Fuxing (, formerly transliterated as Chunghsiao Fuhsing Station until 2003) is a metro station in Taipei, Taiwan served by Taipei Metro. It had a ridership of 20.688 million entries and exits in 2017. Station overview The station has both underground and elevated sections: two levels are underground (servicing Blue Line) and four levels above ground (servicing Brown Line). Zhongxiao Road
Zhongxiao Road (, also called 4th Blvd. or Chunghsiao Road) is a major arterial boulevard that is part of provincial highway 5 in Taipei, Taiwan, connecting the Zhongzheng district in the west with the Daan, Songshan, Xinyi, and Nangang districts in the east. Zhongxiao Road is known as a popular shopping and entertainment area, with many large department stores and shopping malls located along most of the entire stretch. About half of the Nangang Line of the Taipei Metro runs under the road, with stations located at major intersections along the road, which accounts for the significant pedestrian traffic along the road. Tianmu, Shilin District
Tianmu () is a neighborhood located in Shilin District, Taipei, Taiwan. Located on the northern border of the district, Tianmu borders the neighboring district of Beitou and Yangmingshan National Park. Tianmu is best known as an enclave for Taiwan's US expatriate community. From the mid 1950s to 1979, before the US broke formal ties with Taiwan, large portions of the US Armed Forces serving under MAAG and their families stationed in Taiwan lived in Tianmu. Xinyi District or Sinyi District is the seat of the Taipei City Government and Taipei City Council.
