Shooting At The 1988 Summer Olympics – Mixed Trap
Trap was one of the thirteen shooting events at the 1988 Summer Olympics. It was held on 20 September 1988 at the Taereung International Shooting Range. There were 49 competitors from 28 nations, with each nation having up to four shooters (up from two per nation in prior editions). The event was decided by a shoot-off between Dmitry Monakov of the Soviet Union and Miloslav Bednařík of Czechoslovakia, with Monakov emerging as the winner with 8–7. Frans Peeters of Belgium took bronze after a three-way shoot-off. Monakov's victory was the first gold medal for the Soviet Union in the trap; Czechoslovakia and Belgium each received their first medal in the event as well. Italy's four-Games medal streak ended. Dmitry Monakov
Dmitry Vitalyevich Monakov (Ukrainian language, Ukrainian: ''Дмитро Віталійович Монаков'', Russian language, Russian: ''Дмитрий Витальевич Монаков'', 17 February 1963 in Kiev, Soviet Union – 21 November 2007 in Kyiv, Ukraine) was a Soviet Union, Soviet and Ukrainian shooter. He was an Olympic champion in 1988 in trap shooting. Monakov won the Olympic (1988), World (1987, 1994) and European (1988) championships. He participated in the 1996 Olympics on the Ukrainian team but didn't win any medal. Afterwards, he was a coach of the national team. Monakov died on 21 November 2007 from a thrombus problem. John Primrose (sport Shooter)
John Nairn Primrose (born 28 May 1942) is a Canadian trap shooter who competed at six Olympics from 1968 to 1992 (excluding 1980). Career His best position was seventh in the Mixed Trap in the 1972 and 1976 Olympics. John won a gold medal in the 1975 Trap World Championships and the 1983 World Championships (see "Olympic Trap"). A high-light was winning the gold medal at the Commonwealth Games in Edmonton in 1978. He was inducted into the Alberta Sports Hall of Fame after winning his first Commonwealth gold medal in New Zealand. John, a member of Clan Primrose, is the son of Justice Neil Primrose and the grandson of a lieutenant governor of Alberta, Philip Primrose. Russell Andrew Mark, (born 25 February 1964 in Hoppers Crossing, Victoria, Australia) is an Australian Olympic Champion Shooter. He won the Olympic gold medal in double trap at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta. He also won an Olympic silver medal at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney.
