The men's double trap event at the 2016 Olympic Games took place on 10 August 2016 at the National Shooting Center The National Shooting Center, known as the Olympic Shooting Centre during the 2016 Summer Olympics, is a firing range in Deodoro, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. In the qualifier, each shooter fired 5 sets of 30 targets in trap shooting, with 10 targets being thrown to the left, 10 to the right, and 10 straight-away in each set. The shooters could take two shots at each target. The top 6 shooters in the qualifying round moved on to the semifinal round. There, they fired one round of 15 targets, where only one shot could be taken at each target. The top two in the semifinal round advance to gold medal match, while the third and fourth-place shooters relegate to bronze medal match. The medal match is ...

Vitaly Vitalyevich Fokeev (russian: Виталий Витальевич Фокеев; born 15 February 1974 in Rostov-on-Don) is a Russian former sport shooter who specialized in the double trap. Håkan Dahlby (born 15 September 1965) is a Swedish double trap shooter, the winner of the 2003, 2004, and 2012 European Championships. He won a silver medal at the 2012 Olympics after having the best final round of all finalists and moving from fifth to second place. In the 2004 Olympics he finished second in the qualification round, but dropped to fifth place during the final round. William Chetcuti (born 7 January 1985) is a Maltese sport shooter who specializes in the double trap. He won the 2011 World Cup event in Beijing and the 2004 European Junior Championship where he set what is still a world record. He was the first Maltese shooter to win a World Cup medal. At the 2004 Olympic Games he finished in joint sixth place in the double trap qualification. Walton Glenn Eller III (born January 6, 1982) is an American trap shooter and five-time U.S. Olympic athlete (2000, 2004, 2008, 2012, 2016). At the 2008 Summer Olympics, he won the gold medal in men's double trap setting both an Olympic Record and a Final Olympic Record.
