When shooting was reintroduced at the 1932 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles after being absent at the previous Games, it consisted of two events, one rifle event and one pistol event. Shooting At The 1924 Summer Olympics
At the 1924 Summer Olympics in Paris, ten events in shooting sports, shooting were contested. These would be the last Games in which team events were part of the Olympic shooting program. The competitions were held from 23 June 1924 to 9 July 1924 at the shooting ranges at Le Stand de Tir de Versailles, Versailles, Le Stade Olympique Reims, Reims, Camp de Châlons (Mourmelon), and Issy-les-Moulineaux. Shooting At The 1936 Summer Olympics
Shooting at the 1936 Summer Olympics in Berlin saw the reintroduction of 50 metre pistol (then called Free Pistol) but still only had three events. The competitions were held from 6 to 8 August 1936 at the shooting ranges at Wannsee. Germany succeeded only in winning one of the three gold medals; the others went to Scandinavians after great accomplishments: Torsten Ullman won Free Pistol with a margin of 15 points and a new world record, and Willy Røgeberg achieved the maximum score in the Prone event. ISSF Shooting Events
The International Shooting Sport Federation recognizes several shooting events, some of which have Olympic status. They are divided into four disciplines: rifle, pistol, shotgun and running target. The main distinctions between different rifle events are the distances to the target and the shooting positions used. For the other disciplines, the position is always standing, and changes include limits to shooting times and different types of targets. The 1932 Summer Olympics (officially the Games of the X Olympiad and also known as Los Angeles 1932) were an international multi-sport event held from July 30 to August 14, 1932 in Los Angeles, California, United States. The Games were held during the worldwide Great Depression, with some nations not traveling to Los Angeles; 37 nations competed, compared to the 46 in the 1928 Games in Amsterdam, and then-U.S. President Herbert Hoover did not attend the Games. The organizing committee did not report the financial details of the Games, although contemporary newspapers claimed that the Games had made a profit of US$1,000,000. Heinrich Georg "Heinz" Hax (24 January 1900 – 1 September 1969) was a German army general and sportsman. His sports career was as a German modern pentathlete and sport shooter who competed in the 1932 Summer Olympics and in the 1936 Summer Olympics. He was a career army officer and a recipient of the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross with Oak Leaves. The Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross and its higher grade Oak Leaves was awarded to recognise extreme battlefield bravery or successful military leadership.
