Shooting At The 1924 Summer Olympics
At the 1924 Summer Olympics in Paris, ten events in shooting sports, shooting were contested. These would be the last Games in which team events were part of the Olympic shooting program. The competitions were held from 23 June 1924 to 9 July 1924 at the shooting ranges at Le Stand de Tir de Versailles, Versailles, Le Stade Olympique Reims, Reims, Camp de Châlons (Mourmelon), and Issy-les-Moulineaux. Medal summary Notes: *For the team free rifle the IOC medal database lists also Léon Johnson and André Parmentier as silver medalists for France; and L. H. Clermont and C. Niels Larsen
Niels Hansen Ditlev Larsen (21 November 1889 – 15 November 1969) was a Danish sport shooter and rifle manufacturer. He competed in various rifle and pistol events in the 1912, 1920 and 1924 Summer Olympics and won one gold, one silver and three bronze medals, becoming the most successful Danish Olympic shooter. Biography Larsen took up shooting early, and was training in a city club by the age of 14. His talent was noticed by Hans Schultz, an Olympic shooter who owned a guns workshop in Otterup. Schultz hired Larsen in 1910; in 1912 they competed together in the Stockholm Olympics, in 1917 became business partners, and in 1919 expanded the Schultz's workshop into the Schultz & Larsen factory. Earlier in 1916 Larsen married Schultz's daughter Ellen. Their son Uffe Schultz Larsen also became an Olympic shooter and worked for Schultz & Larsen. Paul René Colas (6 May 1880 – 9 September 1956) was a French sport shooter who competed at the 1908, 1912, 1920, and 1924 Summer Olympics. Between 1908 and 1924 Colas won four Olympic medals: a bronze in 1908, two gold in 1912, and one silver in 1924. Only in 1920 did he fail to win a medal. With his two individual gold medals at the 1912 Games he became the second shooter (a day behind Alfred Lane of the United States) and the first rifle shooter to win two individual Olympic gold medals.
