Shonna Tucker
Shonna Tucker is a bassist and songwriter from Killen, Alabama, near Muscle Shoals. Background Tucker grew up in Killen, Alabama, receiving her first bass at age 12, a gift from her father. She describes her musical education as "mostly playing along with Creedence Clearwater Revival tapes". With the Drive-by Truckers Tucker joined the Athens, Georgia-based Drive-By Truckers in 2003, replacing original bassist Earl Hicks. Tucker had previously played upright bass on the Truckers' album ''Decoration Day''. She played bass on their next two records, '' The Dirty South'' and ''A Blessing and a Curse'', before contributing her first songs on 2008's ''Brighter Than Creation's Dark''. Elf Power is an American indie rock band that originated in Athens, Georgia, United States. The line-up consists of guitarist/vocalist Andrew Rieger, keyboardist Laura Carter, guitarist Dave Wrathgabar, bassist Bryan Poole, and drummer Peter Alvanos. They are part of the Elephant Six Collective. History The band began as a four-track recording project of Rieger, Carter, Raleigh Hatfield and Dave Wrathgabar, later of Fablefactory. These recording sessions eventually resulted in the first incarnation of their debut album ''Vainly Clutching at Phantom Limbs''. The band's line-up expanded when Rieger and Carter recruited Elephant Six musician Bryan Poole, also known as The Late B.P. Helium. Japancakes is an American indie rock group, based in Athens, Georgia, United States. History Rhythm guitarist Eric Berg formed the band with the idea of putting ten musicians in a band without any rehearsal, and performing a D chord for 45 minutes (similar to Terry Riley's ''In C''). He continued performances with numerous instrumentalists before releasing their first recording ''If I Could See Dallas'' on Kindercore Records in 1999. The band settled into a consistent lineup on ''The Sleepy Strange,'' released in 2001, also on Kindercore. The Glands were an American indie rock band from Athens, Georgia, United States. Their first CD, ''Double Thriller'', was self-released in 1996 and reissued on Bar/None Records in 1998. Their self-titled album was first released in 2000 on Capricorn Records and reissued on Velocette Records in August 2001. Overview The Glands' unique sounds recalled a variety of influences, including the Kinks, the Who, and The Rolling Stones. The song "Livin' Was Easy" was featured in the DVD ''Let America Laugh'' by comedian David Cross. The band reunited for a brief east coast tour in late 2011, playing several dates with Yo La Tengo. Bright Eyes is an American indie rock band founded by singer-songwriter and guitarist Conor Oberst. Alabama is an American country music band formed in Fort Payne, Alabama, in 1969. The band was founded by Randy Owen (lead vocals, rhythm guitar) and his cousin Teddy Gentry ( bass, backing vocals). They were soon joined by another cousin, Jeff Cook (lead guitar, fiddle, and keyboards).
