Willard Louis
Willard Louis (April 19, 1882 – July 22, 1926) was an American stage and film actor of the silent era. He appeared in more than 80 films between 1911 and 1926. He was born in San Francisco, California. Louis had an art studio before he became an actor at age 20. He acted on stage for four years before he began making films. In addition to his work in dramatic films, Louis performed in comedic roles. In 1926, he signed a five-year contract with Warner Bros., with some of the proposed films having him co-starring with Louise Fazenda. Lous died of typhoid fever and pneumonia in Glendale, California, aged 44. Lubin (; german: Lüben, szl, Lubin) is a city in Lower Silesian Voivodeship in south-western Poland. It is the administrative seat of Lubin County, and also of the rural district called Gmina Lubin, although it is not part of the territory of the latter, as the town forms a separate urban gmina. Siegmund Lubin (born Zygmunt Lubszyński, April 20, 1851 – September 11, 1923) was an American motion picture pioneer who founded the Lubin Manufacturing Company (1902–1917) of Philadelphia. Biography Siegmund Lubin was born as Zygmunt Lubszyński, a son of Samuel Lubszyński and Rebeka Lubszyńska, Polish Jews, in Breslau, Germany (now Wrocław, Poland) or in Poznań on April 20, 1851. His father, a successful ophthalmologist, moved the family for economic reasons to Berlin soon after Zygmunt's birth. There young Zygmunt Germanicized the spelling of his first name to ''Siegmund''. He later graduated from the Heidelberg University and in 1876 emigrated to the United States, where he settled in Philadelphia and worked as an optometrist. Around 1881, he shortened his surname from the Polish Lubszyński to Lubin. He soon progressed to making his own camera and projector combination, which he sold. Mabel Paige
Mabel Paige (December 19, 1880 – February 9, 1954) was an American stage and film actress. Early years Paige began acting at age four, when she appeared in ''Van, the Virginian''. Career When she was 11 years old, Paige began acting in stock theater. She appeared in dozens of stage plays, including ''Little Lord Fauntleroy'' in 1892, ''Rip van Winkle'' in 1899, and ''At Cozy Corners'' in 1905. In the South, she became particular a favorite and was acclaimed as the "Idol of the South." Her Mabel Paige Theatrical Company toured the region for many years. She also had troupes known as the Mabel Paige Repertoire Company and the Mabel Paige Southern Company. After she married, Paige left acting to raise her family.
