Shirokanedai
is a highly affluent district of Minato, Tokyo. The district today is made up of 5 ''chome''. As of November 1, 2007, the population of Shirokanedai is 10,001. The former neighborhood of Shirokanedai (Shirokanedaimachi, 白金台町) consisted only of very narrow area along Meguro-dori (Tokyo Prefectural Route 312) and the former imperial estate called Shirokane Goryochi. It was merged with nearby neighborhoods after the promulgation of the current addressing system in 1969. Overview Located at the southwestern end of Minato, the neighborhood of Shirokanedai lies between Ebisu, Kamiōsaki and Higashigotanda on the west, Takanawa on the east, and Shirokane on the north. Shirokanedai Station
is a subway station in Minato, Tokyo, operated jointly by the Tokyo subway operators Tokyo Metro and Tokyo Metropolitan Bureau of Transportation (Toei). Lines Shirokanedai Station is served by the Tokyo Metro Namboku Line (station number N-02) and the Toei Mita Line (station number I-02), and lies from the starting point of both lines at Meguro Station and a kilometer away from Shirokane-takanawa Station. Matsuoka Museum Of Art
The Matsuoka Museum of Art is a private museum located in Shirokanedai, Minato, Tokyo, founded by Japanese developer Seijiro Matsuoka in November 1975. The museum took advantage of the COVID-19 pandemic to close for renovations, reopening on 26 January, 2022 with an exhibition featuring many of the original pieces acquired by Matsuoka himself, and form the basis of the museum's collection. The is a private museum established in October 1964 in Tokyo, Japan. History The first museum director, Hatakeyama Issē (28 December 1881 - 17 November 1971）was the founder of Ebara Corporation. In 1937, Hatakeyama purchased the landlot once Count Terashima Munenori resided, and relocated and rebuilt an old guest house from Hannyaji in Nara which he named "Hannyaen", where a house warming tea ceremony was held in 1943. As Hatakeyama practiced Hōshō school noh since he was young, he acquired a private noh theater and reassembled on the property. There are noh costumes among the collection. Fusanosuke Kuhara
was an entrepreneur, politician and cabinet minister in the pre-war Empire of Japan. Biography Kuhara was born in Hagi, Yamaguchi Prefecture into a family of ''sake'' brewers. His brother was the founder of Nippon Suisan Kaisha and his uncle Fujita Densaburō was the founder of the Fujita zaibatsu. He studied in 1885 at the Tokyo Commercial School (the predecessor of Hitotsubashi University) and went on to graduate from Keio University. After graduation, he joined the Morimura-gumi, but on the recommendation of ex- Chōshū politicians Inoue Kaoru, he joined his uncle’s company, the Fujita-gumi (current Dowa Holdings), and in 1891 was assigned management of the Kosaka mine in Kosaka, Akita, one of the largest lead, copper and zinc mines in Japan.
