Shirley Breeden
Shirley Breeden (born 1955) is an American politician who served as a member of the Nevada Senate for the 5th district from 2009 to 2012. Early life and education Breeden was born in Needles, California and raised in Las Vegas. After graduating from Ed W. Clark High School, she attended the College of Southern Nevada and took business courses at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. Career Breeden was elected to the Nevada Senate in 2008, narrowly defeating incumbent Republican Joe Heck. She was the plaintiff in the Supreme Court Case ''Clark County School Dist. v. Breeden''. Joe Heck
Joseph John Heck (born October 30, 1961) is an American physician and politician who served as the United States representative for Nevada's 3rd congressional district from 2011 to 2017. Heck is a United States Army major general and a board-certified physician who previously served as a Nevada state senator from 2004 to 2008. He ran for the United States Senate in 2016, losing to Catherine Cortez Masto. Early life, education, and military service Heck was born in Jamaica, Queens, a neighborhood of New York City, and was raised in Pennsylvania, where he graduated from Wallenpaupack Area High School in 1979. Joyce Woodhouse (born 1944) is an American politician and a former member of the Nevada Senate. She represented the 5th district from 2006 to 2010 and then from 2012 to 2019, when she became unable to run for re-election due to term limits. Early life Woodhouse was born in Wibaux, Montana, in 1944. She was the oldest of five daughters and grew up on her father's Hereford cattle ranch.
