Mortlake is a town in the Western District of Victoria, Australia on the Hamilton Highway, north-east of Warrnambool. It is in the Shire of Moyne local government area and the federal Division of Wannon. At the 2001 census, Mortlake had a population of 941, rising to 996 in 2006, and to 1,073 in 2011. Mortlake is situated at the foot of a dormant volcano, Mount Shadwell, formed 25,000 years ago. It is believed that it last erupted about 5,000 years ago. Self-proclaimed as the Olivine capital of Australia, large ejected rocks from Mt Shadwell are called volcanic bombs. Woolsthorpe, Victoria
Woolsthorpe () is a small town in the Shire of Moyne, Victoria, Australia. It is situated at the intersection of the Woolsthorpe-Heywood, Koroit-Woolsthorpe, and Warrnambool-Caramut Roads, on the banks of Spring Creek. There is a local pub, the National Hotel. At the , Woolsthorpe had a population of 422, down from 694 in 2006. The nearest large town is Warrnambool 26.5 kilometres further south. British colonisation of the vicinity began in May 1841 when Robert Whitehead, an English squatter, established a sheep station which he named Spring Creek. Wangoom, Victoria
Wangoom is a town in the Western District of Victoria, from the state capital, Melbourne and from the regional centre of Warrnambool. The population at the 2006 census was 378. After European settlement of the area in the 1840s mixed farming was conducted by many landowners and leasees until the introduction of the milking machine followed by a period where most farms derived a large proportion of their income from dairying. Since 1970 most of the smaller dairies have ceased operating and the few remaining farms are considerably larger in size often using land previously used by smaller dairy farms. Mailors Flat is a locality in western Victoria, Australia. It is in the Shire of Moyne local government area, in what is commonly known as the Western District. Panmure is a small town in the south west of Victoria (Australia), Victoria, Australia. At the Census in Australia#2006, 2006 census, Panmure and the surrounding area had a population of 421. Framlingham, Victoria
Framlingham is a rural township located by the Hopkins River in the Western District of Victoria, Australia, about north-east of the coastal city of Warrnambool. In the 2016 census, the township had a population of 158. The town lies within the traditional lands of the Girai wurrung (Kirrae Wuurong) people. In the decades following European settlement in the 1840s, a general store, post office, hotel, school and Presbyterian church were established in Framlingham, as increasing numbers of graziers and dairy farmers settled the area. The Framlingham Aboriginal Reserve was established by the Board for the Protection of Aborigines between Purnim and the township of Framlingham in 1861, upon the request of an Anglican mission.
