Kyeamba Shire was a local government area in the Riverina region of New South Wales, Australia. Kyeamba Shire was proclaimed on 7 March 1906, one of 134 shires created after the passing of the ''Local Government (Shires) Act 1905''. The shire offices were in Wagga Wagga. Other towns and villages in the shire included Book Book, Borambola, Gumly Gumly, Forest Hill, Humula, Ladysmith, Lake Albert, Pulletop, Mangoplah and Tarcutta. Riverina
The Riverina is an agricultural region of south-western New South Wales, Australia. Local Government Areas Amalgamation Act 1980
The Local Government Areas Amalgamation Act 1980 (NSW) was an Act of the Parliament of New South Wales, which amended the ''Local Government Act 1919'', with the purpose of amalgamating a series of local government areas in New South Wales. The amalgamations took effect from 1 January 1981. The Act Schedule 1 of the Act lists the areas to be amalgamated and the status of the new area (i.e. Shire or Municipality). The only area to be split by the Act was the Manning Shire, divided between the Shire of Great Lakes and the newly created Municipality of Greater Taree. Tarcutta
Tarcutta is a town in south-western New South Wales, Australia. The town is south-west of Sydney, east of the Hume Highway, It was proclaimed as a village on 28 October 1890. As of 2016, the town had a population of 446. It serves a local farming community relying for its prosperity mainly on sheep and cattle, and the interstate truckies who use the town as a halfway change-over point in the trade between the state capital cities of Sydney and Melbourne. History The Tarcutta area was first visited by the European explorers Hume and Hovell as they passed through on their way from Sydney to Port Phillip in the Colony of Victoria. Mangoplah is a town approximately south of Wagga Wagga in the Riverina region of New South Wales, Australia. At the 2016 census, Mangoplah had a population of 309. The name of the town is believed to mean "Kooris singing" in the Wiradjuri aboriginal language. History The first bridge in Mangoplah was built in 1862 from funding of £700 by the NSW Government over Phillitop & Old Man Creek. Ladysmith, New South Wales
Ladysmith is a village approximately 19 km east of Wagga Wagga in the Riverina region of New South Wales, Australia. At the 2016 Australian census, 2016 census, Ladysmith had a population of 352 people. Ladysmith was formerly within the Shire of Kyeamba until 1 January 1981 when the Shire was amalgamated with the Shire of Mitchell into the City of Wagga Wagga. The disused Wagga Wagga to Tumbarumba railway line runs through Ladysmith. Ladysmith railway station heritage precinct is maintained by the Wagga Wagga-based railway preservation group, Tumba Rail. Humula
Humula is a small country town between Tarcutta and Tumbarumba in New South Wales, Australia. Humula was once named "American Yards" or "American Fields" during the gold rush, where many Chinese came for gold years ago. At the 2016 census, Humula had a population of 124 people. Humula is located at the confluence of Carabost Creek, with Umbango Creek, a tributary of Tarcutta Creek, in the Murrumbigee catchment. Humula Station, which is just outside the town, is one of Australia's most historic farming and grazing properties.
