Shirani (Pashtun Tribe)
The Shirani ( ps, شيراني), also spelled Sherani, are a Pashtun tribe, from the Bettani tribal confederacy, who live in Afghanistan and Pakistan. The Sherani are mostly settled in the Frontier Region Dera Ismail Khan, in the Federally Administered Tribal Areas of Pakistan and in the adjoining Sherani District of Balochistan, Pakistan. Some clans have settled in other surrounding districts of Balochistan; and in the Zabul, Ghazni, and Kandahar provinces of Afghanistan. Marri (tribe)
The Marri are a Balochi-speaking tribe of the Baloch people, who inhabit a large arid region in northeastern Balochistan, Pakistan. The Marri area is bounded to the west by the plains of Sibi. To the north are the Kakar and Loni tribes of the Pashtuns; to the east lie the lands of the Khetrans, speakers of an Indo-Aryan language, Khetrani; to the south the Bugti tribe. Traditionally, the Marri people, like other Baloch tribes, were nomads and earned their livelihood from grazing animals. Sherani District
Sherani or Shirani ( ur, ) is an entirely rural subdistrict in the Zhob division of the Balochistan province of Pakistan, with a population of 153,116 as of the 2017 census. There are six villages of note: Ahmadi Dirga (Ahmedi Derga), Karama, Zarkai Landawar, Shinghar, Tsappar Kili, and Manikhawa (Mani Kwa). The subdistrict lies within the Sulaiman mountain range, and its highest point is Takht-e-Sulaiman. Administrative history Zhob is the parent district of Sherani District. Akhtar Sheerani
Akhtar Shirani (born Muhammad Dawood Khan; 4 May 1905 – 9 September 1948; also spelled Sheerani or Sherani), was an Urdu poet. He is considered to be one of the leading romantic poets of Urdu language. Early life and career Akhtar Shairani was born on 4 May 1905 as Muhammad Dawood Khan to the Pashtun Sherani tribe, Shirani tribe which had come to India with Sultan Mahmood Ghaznawi and had stayed back in Tonk, Rajasthan. He was a son of Hafiz Mahmood Sheerani, a scholar and teacher of high repute, who had started teaching at Islamia College, Lahore in 1921. In 1928, he moved to Oriental College, Lahore. Young Dawood moved to Lahore at a very young age and lived there throughout his life. Hafiz Mehmood Khan Shirani
Hafiz Mehmood Shirani (1880–1946) was an Indian researcher and poet during the British era and father of Urdu poet Akhtar Sheerani. He started teaching Urdu at Islamia College, Lahore in 1921. In 1928 he moved to Oriental College, Lahore. He was a researcher and his popular theory was "Punjab Mein Urdu" which made him famous. Hafiz Mehmood Khan Shirani died in his native town of Tonk. Sain Kamal Khan Sherani (Pashto:سايي کمال خان شیراني)(3 January 1924—5 November 2010) was the founding member and leader of Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party a democratic Pashtun nationalist political party in Pakistan.
