Shippen Manor
Shippen Manor is located in Oxford Township, Warren County, New Jersey, United States. The manor was built in 1755 and was added to the National Register of Historic Places on December 20, 1984, for its significance in architecture and industry. With It was later added as a contributing property to the Oxford Industrial Historic District on August 27, 1992. History Shippen Manor was built c. 1754 on an estate of four thousand acres for William Shippen Sr. and his brother Joseph Shippen Jr.. The brothers owned the nearby Oxford Furnace and would manage the furnace from this home. The old furnace produced iron from 1741 to 1882. According to George Wyckoff Cummins' book, ''The History of Warren County, NJ'' (1911), "The Shippen family, who at the time of the merican Revolutioncame into possession of Oxford Furnace". Oxford Township, New Jersey
Oxford Township is a township in Warren County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey. As of the 2010 U.S. census, the township's population was 2,514, reflecting an increase of 207 (+9.0%) from the 2,307 counted in the 2000 census, which had in turn increased by 517 (+28.9%) from the 1,790 counted in the 1990 census. Oxford Township was formed from portions of Greenwich Township on May 30, 1754, while the area was still part of Sussex County. It was incorporated on February 21, 1798, as one of New Jersey's initial group of townships by an act of the New Jersey Legislature. Mansfield Township became part of the newly formed Warren County on November 20, 1824. Oxford Furnace is a historic blast furnace on Washington Avenue, near the intersection with Belvidere Avenue, in Oxford, New Jersey, Oxford, Oxford Township, New Jersey, Oxford Township, Warren County, New Jersey, Warren County, New Jersey. Google Street View is a technology featured in Google Maps and Google Earth that provides interactive panoramas from positions along many streets in the world.
