is a Japanese professional shogi player ranked 7- dan. Early life Sato was born on August 29, 1977, in Sagamihara, Kanagawa Prefecture. He learned shogi from his father when he was about six years old, and entered the Japan Shogi Association's apprentice school at the rank of 6-kyū in 1990 under the guidance of shogi professional .
