Shinji Mizushima
was a Japanese manga artist. He is best known for several baseball manga, such as '' Yakyū-kyō no Uta'', '' Dokaben'', and '' Abu-san''. He is a two-time recipient of the Shogakukan Manga Award. His works have been collected into more than 540 tankōbon volumes, making him one of the most prolific manga artists of all time. Biography Mizushima began his career in 1958 when his debut work, ''Shinya no Kyaku'', was awarded by a local manga magazine based in Osaka. He moved to Tokyo in 1964, where he began to publish numerous works for the ''Shōnen King'' magazine. His first serious work involving baseball came in 1969, when he published ''Ace no Jyōken''. He also began to work for the '' Shōnen Sunday'' and ''Shōnen Champion'' magazines in 1970, where he published his first major hits in ''Otoko do Ahou Kōshien'' and ''Zenikko''. Takao Saito
was a Japanese manga artist, although he rejected the term and considered his work gekiga. He was best known for '' Golgo 13'', which has been serialized in ''Big Comic'' since 1968, making it the oldest manga still in publication. ''Golgo 13'' holds the Guinness World Record for "Most volumes published for a single manga series" and, in accordance with Saito's wishes, it continues to be serialized following his death from pancreatic cancer in September 2021. Kenji Jojima
is a Japanese former professional baseball player. He played as a catcher in Major League Baseball for four years with the Seattle Mariners in the American League, then returned to Japan and played for the Hanshin Tigers. On November 21, 2005, Johjima and the Mariners agreed to a $16.5 million, three-year contract. Shigeo Nagashima
is a Japanese former professional baseball player and manager. Biography Nagashima played baseball at his local high school, and on the Rikkyo University baseball team from 1954–1957. He joined the Yomiuri Giants in 1958. His jersey number (3) is now a retired number for the Yomiuri Giants. After retiring, he became manager of the Yomiuri Giants from 1975–1980, and again from 1993–2001. He was scheduled to manage the Japanese national team for the 2004 Athens Olympics, but he suffered a stroke shortly before and was hospitalized. was a manga writing duo formed by Japanese manga artists and . They formed their partnership in 1951, and used the Fujiko Fujio name from 1954 until dissolution of the partnership in 1987, upon Fujimoto's illness.
