Shinedown
Shinedown is an American rock band from Jacksonville, Florida, formed by singer Brent Smith in 2001 after the dissolution of Dreve, his previous band. Smith, still under contract with record label Atlantic Records, recruited the band's original lineup of Jasin Todd as guitarist, Brad Stewart on bass, and Barry Kerch on drums. Consistent for the first two album cycles, several lineup changes followed in the late 2000s, eventually stabilizing with Smith and Kerch alongside Zach Myers on guitar and Eric Bass on bass. The group has released seven studio albums: '' Leave a Whisper'' (2003), ''Us and Them'' (2005), '' The Sound of Madness'' (2008), '' Amaryllis'' (2012), '' Threat to Survival'' (2015), '' Attention Attention'' (2018), and '' Planet Zero'' (2022). ''Attention Attention'' is the sixth studio album by American Rock music, rock band Shinedown. It was released on May 4, 2018. It is a concept album, depicting an individual overcoming negativity and related problems to be reborn as a new person. The first single, "Devil (Shinedown song), Devil," was released on March 7, 2018. The first promotional single, "The Human Radio," was released on April 6, 2018. The second single, "Get Up (Shinedown song), Get Up," was released on August 8, 2018. The third single, "Monsters (Shinedown song), Monsters" was released on March 1, 2019. ''Amaryllis'' is the fourth studio album by American rock band Shinedown. It was announced on January 3, 2012, the same day as the first single, "Bully," was released, for release on March 27, with pre-orders opening on January 17. A music video for the song "Unity" was released on March 12. An e-book about the making of ''Amaryllis'', titled ''For Your Sake: Inside the Making of Amaryllis'', was released concurrently with the album. ''The Sound of Madness'' is the third studio album by American alternative metal/hard rock band Shinedown, released June 24, 2008. The album's lead single, " Devour", was released to radio on May 5, 2008. It is their first release to feature Eric Bass and Zach Myers, their only release to feature Nick Perri, and the band’s only release as a five-piece. The album's lyrics explore diverse subject matter as opposed to their previous albums; "Devour" explores political and anti-war themes, " If You Only Knew" is a love ballad about singer Brent Smith’s then-fiancée and son, and "What a Shame" tells the story about the death of Smith's uncle, and how he and his cousin, professional wrestler Olivia Smith, dealt with it. ''Leave a Whisper'' is the debut studio album by American rock band Shinedown. The album was released on May 27, 2003, faring well due to the success of the singles "Fly from the Inside" and "45". Recording took place at Henson Recording Studios and The Blue Room, both in Los Angeles. ''Leave a Whisper'' paved the way for Shinedown's successful second album, ''Us and Them'', and was re-released on June 15, 2004, to incorporate a cover version of Lynyrd Skynyrd's "Simple Man". Brent Stephen Smith (born January 10, 1978) is an American singer best known as the lead vocalist of the rock band Shinedown. Early life Smith was born in Knoxville, Tennessee and is an only child. Career Prior to fronting the rock band Shinedown, Smith had a high school band named Blind Thought and later was the lead singer in a band called Dreve, which Atlantic Records had signed. Atlantic Records forced Brent to either find another band or lose his record deal. He then went to Los Angeles, California to record with well-known producer Desmond Child. Shortly after returning home to Knoxville, Tennessee, Atlantic dropped the band but retained Smith. He put together Shinedown shortly after. He was soon given a developmental contract by Atlantic Records. Smith moved to Jacksonville, Florida and began working on the project in 2001. ''Threat to Survival'' is the fifth studio album by American rock band Shinedown. It was announced on August 7, 2015 that the album would be released on September 18, 2015. Four singles were released from the album, "Cut the Cord", "State of My Head", " Asking for It", and "How Did You Love". "Black Cadillac" was also released as a promotional song prior to the album's release as well. In February 2018, the album was certified Gold by the RIAA, indicating 500,000 copies sold in the US. Reception Reception for the album from critics has been mixed. The staff review for Sputnikmusic panned the album for "a complete lack of substance", stating that "The melodies just aren't flowing and the choruses are rarely memorable. Eric Bass
Eric Bass (born William Frederic Bass, Jr., October 23, 1974) is an American musician, songwriter, and producer, best known as the current bassist for the American rock band Shinedown. Personal life Bass was born into a conservative, and very musical family, and was encouraged to sing and play piano from an early age. At 13 he received a trombone, before moving onto guitar the following Christmas. In highschool he played drums in the marching band, which he recalls as being ''rhythmically invaluable to me throughout my music career''. Bass currently lives in Charleston, SC with his wife and their two dogs. ''Planet Zero'' is the seventh studio album by American rock band Shinedown, released on July 1, 2022. The release date was originally set for April 22, 2022, but was postponed due to a delay in CD and vinyl production. The album topped the all-genre ''Billboard'' Top Album Sales chart, a first for the band. Background It was announced on January 26, 2022, alongside the lead single of the same name. It was produced and mixed by bassist Eric Bass, making it the second album to be handled by Bass following '' Attention Attention''. It was written and recorded during the COVID-19 pandemic in Bass' newly built Big Animal Studio in Charleston, South Carolina. Michael Zachary Myers (born November 7, 1983) is an American musician, singer, and songwriter who founded and is currently the lead singer and guitarist for the rock band The Fairwell. He is also the former bassist and current guitarist for the hard rock band Shinedown, and the manager of Memphis pop rock band Sore Eyes, as well as lead singer of Allen, Mack, Myers, & Moore. Brad Stewart
Brad Stewart (born November 19, 1974) is an American bassist, best known for his work with hard rock bands Shinedown and Fuel. He now plays in Saliva, Society Red, and Burn Season. Career Shinedown Stewart was the second member to join Shinedown after vocalist Brent Smith. They met through a mutual friend of Smith’s A&R contact, local Jacksonville producer Pete Thornton. In March 2007, it was reported that Stewart had left Shinedown. No official statement was made, leaving fans to speculate.
