Shin Mazinger Shougeki! Z Hen
''Mazinger Edition Z: The Impact!'', known in Japan as , translated in the Soul of Chogokin toys line as ''Shin Mazinger Impact Z!'', is a Mazinger anime series, directed by Yasuhiro Imagawa (of ''G Gundam'', ''Giant Robo'' and '' Getter Robo Armageddon'' fame) which premiered in Japan on April 4, 2009. According to the production staff, it has no relation to the 1970s show and should not be described as a ''Mazinger Z'' remake. The series is a "retelling" of the basic story of ''Mazinger Z'', featuring most of the same characters, mechanical beasts, and some general plots of the original series, plus some additional material. It keeps the original plot line of ''Mazinger Z'', but makes references to other Go Nagai works, such as ''Z Mazinger'', '' Devilman'', '' Violence Jack'', ''Mao Dante'', ''Abashiri Family'', and others. Ken Ishikawa (manga Artist)
was a Japanese manga artist. He is renowned as the co-creator (with Go Nagai) of the ''Getter Robo'' anime series, as well as four of their subsequent manga continuations. According to Nagai, he considered Ishikawa his greatest friend and ally. Death Ishikawa collapsed at a dinner banquet after golfing; he was rushed to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. The causes of death was acute heart failure. Influences Kazuki Nakashima, chief editor of the Getter Robo Saga compilation cited Ken Ishikawa as an influence when he worked on the series composition of the anime show, ''Gurren Lagann'', and also gave a memorial address at his funeral. He also calls himself Ken Ishikawa's number one fan. Ishikawa's early art is quite reminiscent of that of his mentor, Go Nagai. Abashiri Family
is a Japanese manga series created by Go Nagai that originally ran in the magazine ''Weekly Shōnen Champion''. Some of its characters returned with different names as part of other series, such as ''Cutie Honey'', ''UFO Robot Grendizer'' and ''Mazinger Angels Z'' among others. Some of the first stories were adapted into an original video animation by Studio Pierrot in 1991, distributed by Pony Canyon in four installments as part of ''Anime V Comic Rentaman'', and later released as a standalone VHS and LaserDisc on , also by Pony Canyon. Mao Dante
is a manga series written and illustrated by Go Nagai. The series tells the story of Ryo Utsugi, a student who finds himself in the body of an ancient demon known as Dante and sees himself in the middle of a conflict between God and the devils. Nagai's main influence to create the work was Gustave Doré's illustrations of Dante's ''Divine Comedy''. The series challenged the traditional view of God as good and Devil as bad and was created to provoke the critics of his previous works. During 1971, Nagai wrote the original ''Demon Lord Dante'' manga, which was published in Kodansha's ''Bokura Magazine''. Violence Jack
is a Japanese manga, co-written and co-illustrated by Go Nagai since 1973, all the way to 2008. It has had several serializations and one-shot stories which have run in the 1970s, 1980s, 1990s and 2000s. Most of the stories have been compiled in around 38 tankōbon volumes, while a few of them have been published as special tankōbon or have yet to be published in that format. ''Violence Jack'' is credited with creating the post-apocalyptic manga and anime genre. A set of sagas from the manga were adapted in three independent OVAs released in 1986, 1988 and 1990. These OVAs have been released in the United States, Italy, France, the United Kingdom, Australia, and New Zealand. Devilman
is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Go Nagai. The manga focuses on a high school student named Akira Fudo who absorbs the powers of the demon called "Amon" with help of his friend Ryo Asuka in order to battle creatures hidden in human society, thus calling himself the "Devilman" in the process. The series was originally ordered by Toei Animation as a toned-down anime version of Nagai's previous manga series, ''Demon Lord Dante''. However, Nagai wrote a darker-toned manga in order to alert readers of the dangers of the wars based on how dark the narrative becomes with each of Akira's challenges.
