List Of Countries By Highest Point
The following sortable table lists land surface elevation extremes by country or dependent territory. Topographic elevation is the vertical distance above the reference geoid, a mathematical model of the Earth's sea level as an equipotential gravitational surface. Table }) is a salt lake on the border between Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan which dries into salt ponds and can eventually leave a salt flat with an elevation as low as in Turkmenistan. At present, the water level of the main lake in Turkmenistan is about , with a higher lake in Uzbekistan at . , - , , Blue Hills on Providenciales , North Atlantic Ocean , - , , Unnamed location on Niulakita , South Pacific Ocean , - , , Mount Stanley ( Margherita Peak) , Albert Nile , - , , Hoverla , Kuyalnik Estuary , - , , Jabal Al Jais , Persian Gulf Gulf of Oman , - , , Ben Nevis , Holme Fen , - , , Denali , Badwater Basin , - , , Unnamed hill on Sand Island ( Johnston Atoll) , Pacific Ocean , - , ...

Ogo Mountains
The Ogo Mountains, also known as the Galgodon Highlands, (, ) are a mountain range in Somaliland. They cross the Sanaag and Togdheer regions. With a mean peak height of , the ecology of this landform is semi-desert. Ecology Due to the Ogo Mountains' elevated, highland location in Somaliland, the range has an unexpectedly temperate climate. The mountains also catch the precipitation of the Indian Ocean's monsoon winds, resulting in a rainy season that lasts from June until mid-September. Climate The average annual temperature in the Ogo Mountains is . Precipitation reaches a maximum in March, with a minimum of rainfall in August. The average annual precipitation around . The data provided below derives from the Gudaado station. It illustrates a subtropical highland climate with strong continental Mediterranean characteristics (Köppen: "''Cwb''"), given the two marked wet seasons that span between March–May and September–November, albeit the latter being briefer and more ...

Somaliland
Somaliland,; ar, صوماليلاند ', ' officially the Republic of Somaliland,, ar, جمهورية صوماليلاند, link=no ''Jumhūrīyat Ṣūmālīlānd'' is a ''de facto'' sovereign state in the Horn of Africa, still considered internationally to be part of Somalia. Somaliland lies in the Horn of Africa, on the southern coast of the Gulf of Aden. It is bordered by Djibouti to the northwest, Ethiopia to the south and west, and Somalia to the east.Encyclopædia Britannica, ''The New Encyclopædia Britannica'', (Encyclopædia Britannica: 2002), p.835 Its claimed territory has an area of , with approximately 5.7 million residents as of 2021. The capital and largest city is Hargeisa. The government of Somaliland regards itself as the successor state to British Somaliland, which, as the briefly independent State of Somaliland, united in 1960 with the Trust Territory of Somaliland (the former Italian Somaliland) to form the Somali Republic.''The New Encyclopædia Br ...

Cal Madow
Cal Madow (also Calmadow, Al Madow, Al Medu, or Al Mado; so, Buuraha Calmadow; ar, عَلَمْدُو, ʿAlamdū) is a mountain range in Somaliland. It stretches across an area between the east of Erigavo, Somaliland, to the Bari region of Somalia. Its peak sits at almost in Shimbiris, northwest of Erigavo. Cal Madow was a tourist destination in the late 1980s. The local population of the Sanaag region is primarily responsible for preserving the habitat, which continues to face the risk of deforestation. Ecology The dense mountain forest sits at an altitude of between above sea level, and has a mean annual rainfall of . In addition to rainfall, Cal Madow receives additional precipitation in the form of fog and winter rains, which sustain isolated forests of ''Juniperus procera, Buxus hildebrandtii'', and others. Mist also appears to be important in the distribution of juniperus (''dayib''), one of the species locals use for timber. For timber production, the buxus (''dhoqos' ...

Summit (topography)
A summit is a point on a surface that is higher in elevation than all points immediately adjacent to it. The topographic terms acme, apex, peak (mountain peak), and zenith are synonymous. The term (mountain top) is generally used only for a mountain peak that is located at some distance from the nearest point of higher elevation. For example, a big, massive rock next to the main summit of a mountain is not considered a summit. Summits near a higher peak, with some prominence or isolation, but not reaching a certain cutoff value for the quantities, are often considered ''subsummits'' (or ''subpeaks'') of the higher peak, and are considered part of the same mountain. A pyramidal peak is an exaggerated form produced by ice erosion of a mountain top. Summit may also refer to the highest point along a line, trail, or route. The highest summit in the world is Mount Everest with a height of above sea level. The first official ascent was made by Tenzing Norgay and Sir Edmund Hillary ...

SRTM
The Shuttle Radar Topography Mission (SRTM) is an international research effort that obtained digital elevation models on a near-global scale from 56°S to 60°N, to generate the most complete high-resolution digital topographic database of Earth prior to the release of the ASTER GDEM in 2009. SRTM consisted of a specially modified radar system that flew on board the Space Shuttle Endeavour during the 11-day STS-99 mission in February 2000. The radar system was based on the older '' Spaceborne Imaging Radar-C/X-band Synthetic Aperture Radar'' (SIR-C/X-SAR), previously used on the Shuttle in 1994. To acquire topographic data, the SRTM payload was outfitted with two radar antennas. One antenna was located in the Shuttle's payload bay, the other – a critical change from the SIR-C/X-SAR, allowing single-pass interferometry – on the end of a 60-meter (200-foot) mast that extended from the payload bay once the Shuttle was in space. The technique employed is known as interferomet ...

Mountains Of Somaliland
A mountain is an elevated portion of the Earth's crust, generally with steep sides that show significant exposed bedrock. Although definitions vary, a mountain may differ from a plateau in having a limited summit area, and is usually higher than a hill, typically rising at least 300 metres (1,000 feet) above the surrounding land. A few mountains are isolated summits, but most occur in mountain ranges. Mountains are formed through tectonic forces, erosion, or volcanism, which act on time scales of up to tens of millions of years. Once mountain building ceases, mountains are slowly leveled through the action of weathering, through slumping and other forms of mass wasting, as well as through erosion by rivers and glaciers. High elevations on mountains produce colder climates than at sea level at similar latitude. These colder climates strongly affect the ecosystems of mountains: different elevations have different plants and animals. Because of the less hospitable terrain and ...
