Sherry Just
Sherry Just (born June 17, 1986) is a Canadian curler from Prince Albert, Saskatchewan. She currently skips her own team out of Saskatoon. Career Women's Just began competing on the World Curling Tour during the 2010–11 season. After the season, she moved to Saskatchewan. She qualified for the playoffs at the 2012 DEKALB Superspiel, losing in the quarterfinals. She also played in the Colonial Square Ladies Classic Grand Slam of Curling event in 2013 and 2014 but failed to qualify on both occasions. She played in her first Saskatchewan Scotties Tournament of Hearts in 2016 as second for Nancy Martin. They finished 1–4, failing to advance. She returned the following season, playing third for Brett Barber. After going 4–4 through the round robin, they lost the tiebreaker to eventual winners Penny Barker. The Grand Slam of Curling (branded as the Pinty's Grand Slam of Curling for sponsorship reasons) is a series of curling bonspiels that are a part of the annual World Curling Tour. Grand Slam events offer a purse of at least CAD$100,000, and feature the best teams from across Canada and around the World. The Grand Slam was instituted during the 2001–02 season for men and 2006–07 for women (with the 2006 Players' Championship also considered a Slam), but some of the Grand Slam events have longer histories as bonspiels. Derek Samagalski
Derek Samagalski (born September 9, 1984) is a Canadian curler who currently resides in Carberry, Manitoba. Samagalski won a bronze medal at the 2012 Tim Hortons Brier as lead, where he also won the first team all-star award for the position. Doubles Curling
Doubles curling (most commonly seen as mixed doubles) is a variation of the sport of curling with only two players on each team. Mixed doubles is the most common format of doubles curling, where the term 'mixed' specifies that each team is composed of one man and one woman. Penny Barker (born Penny Roy on September 25, 1985) is a curler from Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. She currently skips her own team out of the Moose Jaw Ford Curling Centre in Moose Jaw. She is a two-time Saskatchewan Scotties Tournament of Hearts provincial champion, winning the event in 2017 and 2022. Career Juniors Barker was the alternate on the Mandy Selzer rink that represented Canada at the 2006 World Junior Curling Championships. The team won the silver medal that year. She represented the University of Regina at five Canadian university championships, including winning a silver in 2007. Women's Barker began skipping a women's team in 2007, after playing third for Karen Purdy in the 2006–07 season. 2017 Saskatchewan Scotties Tournament Of Hearts
The 2017 Viterra Saskatchewan Scotties Tournament of Hearts, the provincial women's curling championship of Saskatchewan was held from January 24–29 at the Horizon Credit Union Centre in Melville. The winning Penny Barker team represented Saskatchewan at the 2017 Scotties Tournament of Hearts in St. Catharines, Ontario. Moose Jaw's Penny Barker won her first provincial women's title, sealing the victory after a hit for four points in the final, defeating North Battleford's Robyn Silvernagle. The Barker rink was ranked 7th going into the tournament, and only made the playoffs after winning a tiebreaker match. She then won three straight playoff games to claim the title. The 2017 Scotties Tournament of Hearts will be the first national championship for all four members of the Barker rink. Nancy Faye Martin (born February 17, 1973 in Rosetown, Saskatchewan) is a Canadian curler from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. Career Martin has been playing on the World Curling Tour since the 2004-05 season. In the 2014-15 season, she joined the Jill Shumay rink at third. She has been skipping a rink since the 2015-16 season. Martin played in the 2018 Canadian Mixed Doubles Curling Olympic Trials with partner Catlin Schneider. They finished 5-3 and lost in a tiebreaker. She also competed in the 2019 Canadian Mixed Doubles Curling Championship with Tyrel Griffith, losing to Jocelyn Peterman and Brett Gallant in the final.
