Sherri Tan
Sherri Tan is an American figurative artist whose work includes collage, sculpture, photography, books and multimedia. Her work has been exhibited in galleries and museums across the US including the Bass Museum of Art, Miami; the Museum of Art Fort Lauderdale, Ft. Lauderdale; Fotouhi Cramer Gallery, NY; Coral Spring Museum of Art, Brevard Museum, Polk Museum, Society for Contemporary Crafts, Pittsburgh; Center for Contemporary Art, Virginia Beach; and Rosenwald Gallery, University of Pennsylvania. Tan has also been active in designing large-scale sets and artwork for opera and multimedia works including settings for a touring stage production of Gustav Mahler's Das Lied von der Erde presented in the US and China and artworks for composer Thomas Sleeper's operas "Small Change", "River of Shifting Sands" and "The Sisters Antipodes". Bass Museum Of Art
The Bass Museum of Art is a contemporary art museum located in Miami Beach, Florida. The Bass Museum of Art was founded in 1963 and opened in 1964. History Early years John Bass (1891-1978) and Johanna Redlich (m. Feb. 21, 1921) were Jewish-immigrants from Vienna, Austria who resided in Miami Beach. As President of the Fajardo Sugar Company of Puerto Rico, John Bass was also an amateur journalist, artist (namely painting and etching) and composer of published music. Mr. Bass collected both fine art and cultural artifacts, including a sizeable manuscript collection that now lives in the Carnegie Hall Archives. In 1963, the couple bequeathed a collection of more than 500 works, including Old Master paintings, textiles and sculptures to the City of Miami Beach, under the agreement that a Bass Museum of Art would remain open to the public in perpetuity. The NSU Art Museum Fort Lauderdale is an art museum in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Originating in 1958 as the ''Fort Lauderdale Art Center'', the museum is now located in an modernist building designed by Edward Larrabee Barnes. Thomas Sleeper
Thomas M. Sleeper (February 16, 1956 – October 15, 2022) was an American composer and conductor. His music has been described as 'hauntingly mysterious' and 'richly lyrical'. He was the Director of Orchestral Activities and Conductor of the University of Miami Frost Symphony Orchestra until his retirement in 2018. He was also the director of the Florida Youth Orchestra from 1993 to 2020. History Sleeper was born in Wagoner, Oklahoma, and was a member of the Cherokee Nation. He received his Bachelor of Music at the University of Texas, and subsequently received his Master of Music at Southern Methodist University, where he studied under Daryl F. Rauscher of the Dallas Symphony Orchestra and James Rives-Jones. From 1975 to 1978, while in Austin, Sleeper was active with an avant-garde group of composer/performers called "Fermata".
