Sherman W. Dreiseszun
Sherman W. Dreiseszun (May 23, 1922 – December 3, 2007) was a banker and real estate developer who built Kansas City's two tallest buildings as well as several shopping malls throughout the Midwest. Early life Dreiseszun was the son of Polish Jewish immigrants. He was born at 1734 Prospect Avenue in the 18th and Vine Jazz District of Kansas City, Missouri. He served in World War II as a crewmember on B-17 planes. In 1946, he and nephew Frank Morgan (four years his junior) formed a partnership Vic-Gene Manufacturing Inc. to sell women's wear to Kansas City, Missouri-area stores. Kansas City Power And Light Building
The Kansas City Power and Light Building (also called the KCP&L Building and the Power and Light Building) is a landmark skyscraper located in Downtown Kansas City, Missouri. It was constructed by Kansas City Power and Light in 1931 as a way to promote new jobs in Downtown Kansas City. Since then, the Art Deco building has been a prominent part of Kansas City's skyline. The structure was the tallest building west of the Mississippi River upon its completion after succeeding the Smith Tower until the completion of the Space Needle in 1962. Oak Park Mall is a super-regional shopping mall located in Overland Park, Kansas, containing over 180 stores in a covered area of . It is the largest mall in the Kansas City Metro Area as well as the entire state of Kansas, and is split into two levels and contains five department stores. Metro North Mall
Metro North Mall was a mall located at 400 NW Barry Road, in Kansas City, Missouri, United States Metro North opened in 1976 and was the only enclosed mall located north of the Missouri River in the Kansas City metro area, as well as being the second largest mall in the area, behind Oak Park Mall in Overland Park, Kansas. It was developed by Frank Morgan and his uncle Sherman Dreiseszun. After a decade of decline and left with only two stores, the mall closed on April 15, 2014, and the mall was completely demolished (except for the Macy's anchor) in early 2017. The Gardens on Havana is a shopping mall in Aurora, Colorado, United States. Built in 1971 as Buckingham Square, the mall underwent a decline in tenancy throughout the 1990s which resulted in the closure of most stores. Demolished between 2007 and 2008, it was redeveloped and reopened in 2009 as a lifestyle center. Major tenants include Target, Dick's Sporting Goods, and Kohl's.
