Roger Sherman
Roger Sherman (April 19, 1721 – July 23, 1793) was an American statesman, lawyer, and a Founding Father of the United States. He is the only person to sign four of the great state papers of the United States related to the founding: the Continental Association, Declaration of Independence, Articles of Confederation, and U.S. Constitution. He also signed the 1774 Petition to the King. Born in Newton, Massachusetts, Sherman established a legal career in Litchfield County, Connecticut, despite a lack of formal education. After a period in the Connecticut House of Representatives, he served as a justice of the Superior Court of Connecticut from 1766 to 1789. He represented Connecticut at the Continental Congress, and he was a member of the Committee of Five that drafted the Declaration of Independence. David Sherman (1958 - November 16, 2022) was an American novelist who dealt overwhelmingly with military themes at the small-unit tactical level. His experiences as a United States Marine informed his writings. Early life and education Sherman was born in Niles, Ohio in 1958. He grew up in Kansas, Texas, New Jersey and Omaha, Nebraska, from where he joined the United States Marine Corps soon after turning 18. Cynthia Morris Sherman (born January 19, 1954) is an American artist whose work consists primarily of photographic self-portraits, depicting herself in many different contexts and as various imagined characters. Her breakthrough work is often considered to be the collected '' Untitled Film Stills'', a series of 70 black-and-white photographs of herself evoking typical female roles in performance media (especially arthouse films and popular B-movies). Charles Taylor Sherman
Charles Taylor Sherman (February 3, 1811 – January 1, 1879) was a United States district judge of the United States District Court for the Northern District of Ohio. Education and career Born on February 3, 1811, in Norwalk, Connecticut, Sherman graduated from Ohio University in 1830, with financial aid from one of his father's friends, after his father died in 1829. He read law in 1833, in the office of Henry Stoddard and under Judge Jacob Parker. He was admitted to the Ohio bar in 1833, and entered private practice in Mansfield, Ohio from 1835 to 1867, later joined by his brother John. He was a city councilman for Mansfield in 1846. Charles Robert Sherman
Charles Robert Sherman (c. September 26, 1788 – June 24, 1829) was an American lawyer and public servant. Of his 11 children, four became prominent public figures during and after the civil war. Life and career Sherman was born in Norwalk, Connecticut, the son of Taylor Sherman, a judge and state representative. He studied law in the office of a Mr. Chapman in Newtown and was admitted to the bar in 1809. He married Mary Hoyt in 1810 and then moved to Lancaster, Ohio, where he was successful as a lawyer in private practice. In the War of 1812, he served as a Major of the Ohio Militia. In 1823 he became a judge in the Ohio Supreme Court, where he continued to serve until his sudden death in 1829. The Supreme Court rode a circuit in those days, and Sherman died while holding court in Lebanon, Ohio, where he was buried. He was later re-interred in Elmwood Cemetery, Lancaster, Ohio. Carlos Sherman ( be, Карлас Шэрман; October 25, 1934 – March 4, 2005) was a Uruguay-born Belarusian–Spanish translator, writer, human rights activist and honorary vice-president of the Belarusian PEN Center (a worldwide association of writers, aimed to promote intellectual cooperation and understanding among writers). Carl Sherman (October 16, 1890 – July 17, 1956) was an American lawyer and politician. Life Sherman was born in Olmütz, Austria, which is now Olomouc in the Czech Republic. His parents, Sandor and Pauline (Opler) Sherman, brought the family to the United States in 1894, and Sandor Sherman worked as a tobacco merchant in Buffalo. Carl Sherman graduated from Buffalo's Masten Park High School in 1908, and received his LL.B. degree from the University at Buffalo Law School in 1910. Sherman lived and practiced law in Buffalo.
