''Sherlock Holmes'' is an Italian 1968 television series featuring Nando Gazzolo as Sherlock Holmes and Gianni Bonagura as Dr. Watson. The series aired on Secondo Programma from 25 October to 29 November 1968 and is formed by six episodes: the first three episodes adapt ''The Valley of Fear'' while the last three episodes adapt ''The Hound of the Baskervilles''. Each episode is about one hour long. Nando Gazzolo
Ferdinando "Nando" Gazzolo (16 October 1928 – 16 November 2015) was an Italian actor and voice actor. Biography Born in Savona, the son of the actor and voice actor Lauro Gazzolo and EIAR radio announcer Aida Ottaviani Piccolo, Gazzolo debuted at young age on radio, and in 1948, at twenty years old, he started his acting career entering the stage company led by Antonio Gandusio. He achieved his first personal success in 1951, in the adaptation of '' Antonio e Cleopatra'' staged by Renzo Ricci. He later worked on stage with Vittorio Gassman and Luigi Squarzina, among others, before focusing in voice acting and dubbing. Gazzolo was also active in films and starred in several TV-series of good success. As a voice actor, Gazzolo served as the regular dubbing voice for Peter Cushing, David Niven and Richard Widmark. Sherlock Holmes () is a fictional detective created by British author Arthur Conan Doyle. Referring to himself as a " consulting detective" in the stories, Holmes is known for his proficiency with observation, deduction, forensic science and logical reasoning that borders on the fantastic, which he employs when investigating cases for a wide variety of clients, including Scotland Yard. Gianni Bonagura
Gianfelice "Gianni" Bonagura (27 October 1925 – 8 October 2017) was an Italian actor and voice actor. Life and career Born in Milan, Bonagura was active on film, stage, television and radio. He appeared in 40 films between 1950 and 2001. He arrived at the threshold of a degree in philosophy, then in 1946 he abandoned his studies to attend the Silvio d'Amico National Academy of Dramatic Arts. Essentially a stage actor, Bonagura became popular in the second half of the fifties as a radio actor, protagonist of vignettes together with Nino Manfredi and Paolo Ferrari. In cinema and television, he was only used as a character actor, with the exception of the role of Dr. Watson in the 1968 RAI television series ''Sherlock Holmes''. ''The Valley of Fear'' is the fourth and final Sherlock Holmes novel by British writer Arthur Conan Doyle. It is loosely based on the Molly Maguires and Pinkerton agent James McParland. The story was first published in the ''Strand Magazine'' between September 1914 and May 1915. The first book edition was copyrighted in 1914, and it was first published by George H. Doran Company in New York on 27 February 1915, and illustrated by Arthur I. Keller. Plot Sherlock Holmes receives a cipher message from Fred Porlock, a pseudonymous agent of Professor Moriarty. After Porlock sends the message, however, he changes his mind for fear of Moriarty's discovering that he is a traitor. He decides not to send the key to the cipher, but he sends Holmes a note telling of this decision. ''The Hound of the Baskervilles'' is the third of the four crime novels by British writer Arthur Conan Doyle featuring the detective Sherlock Holmes. RaiPlay is the multimedia portal owned by the Italian national broadcaster RAI replacing Rai.tv since 12 September 2016. It is for watching popular Italian shows such as 'Inspector Montalbano', 'Don Matteo' and many more. Login and registration, which are free, are required to watch on demand content on RaiPlay. Initially, access has been required only for the app, but since 21 August 2017, it is also required when using the browser.
