Sheringham Football Club is a football club based in Sheringham, England and was established in 1897. They are currently members of the and play at Weybourne Road. Nicknamed "The Shannocks", the club are affiliated to the Norfolk County FA. History The club was established in 1897. They played in the Norfolk & Suffolk League, finishing bottom of the league in 1949–50. In 1957–58 they were league champions. In 1964 the league merged with the East Anglian League to form the Anglian Combination, with Sheringham placed in the Premier Division. The club were Premier Division runners-up in 1968–69 and champions the following season, before winning the league's Senior Knock-Out Cup in 1970–71. Having sunk into the lower divisions by the early 2000s, Sheringham were Division Three champions in 2002–03. The East Anglian League was a football league in the East Anglia region of England. History The league was established in 1903 as the South East Anglian League. The founder member clubs were Chelmsford City, Colchester Crown, Colchester Town, Harwich & Parkeston and Ipswich Town, with Ipswich winning the inaugural league title. The Anglian Combination (known as the Hadley & Ottaway Anglian Combination under the terms of a sponsorship deal) is an English football league that operates in the East Anglia area. The league specifically covers Norfolk and northern Suffolk with rules stating that clubs should be within a 50 miles radius from the centre of Norwich. It consists of 104 teams and has seven divisions – the Premier Division, Division One to Four plus the two regionalised divisions, Division Five North and South. Its top division is currently at step 7 (or level 11) of the National League System. A U19 Development Division was proposed to start in the 2014–15 season depending on interest.
