Sheridan High School is a comprehensive four-year public high school located in Sheridan, Arkansas, United States. It is one of two public high schools in Grant County and the sole high school administered by the Sheridan School District. In 2012, Sheridan High School was nationally recognized as a silver medalist in the '' U.S. News & World Report'' Best High Schools 2012 report, which ranked the school as the No. 1,976 high school in the nation and No. 21 in Arkansas. Sheridan is a city and county seat of Grant County, Arkansas, United States. The community is located deep in the forests of the Arkansas Timberlands. It sits at the intersection of US Highways 167 and 270. Early settlers were drawn to the area by the native timber, which is still a very important part of Sheridan's economy, although the city has diversified into several other industries. Sheridan's history also includes a college, Missionary Baptist College, until its closure in 1934, and a series of conflicts during the Civil Rights Movement. Located at the southern end of the Central Arkansas region, Sheridan has been experiencing a population boom in recent years, as indicated by a 49% growth in population between the 1990 and 2010 censuses. Sheridan is a town in Madison County, Montana, United States named after the Civil War general Philip Sheridan. The population was 694 at the 2020 census. Sheridan is known as the "heart of the Ruby Valley."
