Sherell Ford
Sherell Ford (born August 26, 1972) is an American former professional basketball player. A 6'7" forward from the University of Illinois at Chicago, Ford was selected by the Seattle SuperSonics in the first round (26th overall) of the 1995 NBA Draft and signed a three-year $1.67 million contract. However, Ford played only one NBA season before being released by the team. In his brief NBA career, he played in 28 games and scored a total of 90 points. His final NBA game was played on April 21, 1996, in a 99–88 loss to the Denver Nuggets where he played for 3 minutes and his only stat was 1 steal. While at Proviso East High School in Maywood, Illinois, Ford was teammate of fellow NBA players Michael Finley and Donnie Boyce. While at UIC, Ford finished in the top three in points per game (1st), rebounds per game (1st), blocks per game (2nd) and steals per game (3rd) in the Mid-Continent Conference (now known as Summit League) during his sophomore season. Midwestern Collegiate Conference
The Horizon League is an 11-school collegiate athletic conference in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I, whose members are located in and near the Great Lakes region. The Horizon League founded in 1979 as the Midwestern City Conference. The conference changed its name to Midwestern Collegiate Conference in 1985 and then the Horizon League in 2001. The conference started with a membership of six teams and has fluctuated in size with 24 different schools as members at different times. The League currently has 11 members. Mid Continent Conference
The Summit League, or The Summit, is an NCAA Division I intercollegiate athletic conference with its membership mostly located in the Midwestern United States from Illinois on the East of the Mississippi River to the Dakotas and Nebraska on the West, with additional members in the Western state of Colorado and the Southern state of Oklahoma. Founded as the Association of Mid-Continent Universities in 1982, it rebranded as the Mid-Continent Conference in 1989, then again as the Summit League on June 1, 2007. Donnie Boyce
Donald Nathaniel Boyce (born September 2, 1973) is an American former professional basketball player who currently works as head coach for Proviso East High School in Maywood, Illinois. He played college basketball at the University of Colorado. Early life Boyce played high school at Proviso East in Maywood, Illinois, along with future NBA draft picks Michael Finley and Sherrell Ford. Boyce played collegiately at the University of Colorado, finishing his career in 1995 as the Buffaloes' all-time leading scorer (until Richard Roby surpassed him in 2008). In September 1993, Boyce was arrested for allegedly taking part in a drug deal outside a fast-food restaurant in Boulder, Colorado. Boyce stated he never took or used drugs. Michael Finley
Michael Howard Finley (born March 6, 1973) is an American former professional basketball player who is the Vice President of Basketball Operations for the Dallas Mavericks of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He played 15 seasons in the NBA, predominantly with the Mavericks, but also for the Phoenix Suns (who drafted him in 1995), the San Antonio Spurs, and the Boston Celtics. He was a two-time NBA All-Star and won an NBA championship with the Spurs in 2007. High school career Finley attended Proviso East High School in Maywood, Illinois, graduating in 1991. 1995 NBA Draft
The 1995 NBA draft took place on June 28, 1995, at SkyDome in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. It marked the first NBA draft to be held outside the United States and was the first draft for the two Canadian expansion teams, Toronto Raptors and Vancouver Grizzlies. Kevin Garnett, who was taken fifth in this draft, is notable for being the first player in two decades to be selected straight out of high school. Garnett ultimately gathered fifteen All Star selections, nine All-NBA selections (four of those being First-Teams), one NBA MVP award, and multiple other accolades.
