Shepody Healing Centre
Shepody Healing Centre, established in 2001, is a multi-level security facility at Dorchester Penitentiary in Dorchester, New Brunswick, serving male offenders with serious mental health conditions. As one of five regional treatment centres operated by Correctional Service Canada (CSC), the Centre also provides inpatient and outpatient emergency and consultative services to other facilities in the Atlantic Region. The Centre houses those who are deemed not criminally responsible. With a maximum capacity of 53, the Centre has 38 multi-level beds, along with 15 mental health transition beds at Dorchester Penitentiary. Dorchester Penitentiary
The Dorchester Penitentiary ( French: Pénitencier de Dorchester) is a Canadian federal corrections facility located in the village of Dorchester, New Brunswick. It shares a property with Westmorland Institution and Shepody Healing Centre. History It was opened on 14 July 1880 as a maximum security penitentiary on a hill overlooking the Memramcook River valley. It is now, having been built three years after Stony Mountain Institution (1877), the second oldest federal corrections facility in Canada still in operation following the closure of Kingston Penitentiary on September 30, 2013. Dorchester, New Brunswick
Dorchester is a formerly incorporated village and the shire town of Westmorland County, New Brunswick, Canada. It is named for Guy Carleton, 1st Baron Dorchester, an 18th-century Governor-General of the old Province of Quebec. It is located on the eastern side of the mouth of the lush Memramcook River valley near the river's discharge point into Shepody Bay.
