__NOTOC__ Shelley is a village in the civil parish of Kirkburton in the county of West Yorkshire, England. The village is north of Holmfirth and southeast of Huddersfield. Community Shelley had a population of 3,059 according to the 2001 census. The village is part of the Kirkburton ward of the local council. Road transport links are the A629 and B6116 roads. Within the village is Shelley Hall, which dates to the 17th century, and is a Grade II* listed building. Shelley has two places of worship. Shelley Methodist Church, off Far Bank at the west of the village, is a Grade II listed building dating to 1785–6, originally a Methodist New Connexion chapel. The Church of England's Gothic Revival Church of Emmanuel is on Huddersfield Road at the east of the village. The church, built in 1868, is a Grade II listed building. The North West Counties Football League is a football league in the North West of England. Since 2019–20, the league has covered the Isle of Man, Cheshire, Greater Manchester, Lancashire, Merseyside, Cumbria, northern Staffordshire, northern Shropshire, the far west of West Yorkshire, and the High Peak area of Derbyshire. Storthes Hall Hospital
Storthes Hall Hospital was a mental health facility at Storthes Hall, West Yorkshire, England. Founded in 1904, it expanded to over 3,000 patients during the Second World War. After the introduction of Care in the Community in the early 1980s, the hospital went into a period of decline and closed in 1992. History An area to the west of Storthes Hall Mansion, closer to Farnley Tyas, was chosen as a site for a psychiatric hospital in the early 20th century. The facility, which was designed by J. Vickers-Edwards using a compact arrow layout, opened as the Fourth West Riding Pauper Lunatic Asylum in 1904. Scissett
Scissett is a village in West Yorkshire, England. It is south-east of Huddersfield and north-west of Barnsley. According to the 2001 census, the village had a population of 1,324. Scissett is halfway between the villages of Clayton West, Skelmanthorpe and Denby Dale on the A636 road to Wakefield. River Dearne runs through the village, which was affected by the 2007 United Kingdom floods. Scissett grew up around the woollen industry in the 19th century as mill owners built houses in the area for their workers. The nearby coalfields also provided employment. These industries are now gone and some of the mills are now retail units. The Scissett Baths (and leisure centre) is one of the main attractions for the surrounding area. Denby Dale is a village and civil parish in the metropolitan borough of Kirklees in West Yorkshire, England. It is 10 miles (17 km) to the south-east of Huddersfield and 9 miles (14 km) north-west of Barnsley. Shelley College
Shelley College (formerly known as Shelley High School) is a coeducational upper school and sixth form on the border between the villages of Shelley and Skelmanthorpe, West Yorkshire in England. The school gained Academy status in September 2011, as Shelley College - A Specialist Centre for Science. However, as of November 2014, it is no longer a specialist in science. Unlike most high schools, pupils join Shelley College at Year 9, aged 13, because there is a middle school system in the surrounding area.
