Sheldon Brooks
Sheldon Brooks (May 20, 1811 – May 19, 1883) was an American physician and politician. Brooks was born in Redfield, Oswego County, New York. He was a farmer and a physician. In 1856, Brooks moved to Minnesota and helped platted the community of Beaver Beavers are large, semiaquatic rodents in the genus ''Castor'' native to the temperate Northern Hemisphere. Redfield, New York
Redfield is a town in Oswego County, New York, United States. The population was 550 at the 2010 census. The Town of Redfield was incorporated from part of the Town of Mexico in 1800. The town is in the northeastern corner of the county. As the town is located in the lake effect snowbelt, it is known for its frequent and heavy snowfalls, even more so than other towns in upstate New York. In February 2007, the town unofficially set a record when of snow fell in 10 days. Geography The northern town line is the border of Jefferson County and the eastern town line is the border of Lewis County. Oswego County is a county in the U.S. state of New York. As of the 2020 census, the population was 117,525. The county seat is Oswego. The county name is from a Mohawk-language word meaning "the pouring out place", referring to the point at which the Oswego River feeds into Lake Ontario at the northern edge of the county in the city of Oswego. Winona is a city in and the county seat of Winona County, in the state of Minnesota. Located in bluff country on the Mississippi River, its most noticeable physical landmark is Sugar Loaf. The city is named after legendary figure Winona, who some sources claimed was the first-born daughter of Chief Wapasha of the Dakota people. The population was 25,948 at the 2020 census.
