Sheikh Hasina Cantonment
Sheikh Hasina Cantonment is the headquarter of 7th Infantry Division of Bangladesh Army. It is located in Lebukhali, Patuakhali. The area of the cantonment is 1532 acres. The project will be completed by the Ministry of Defence by June 2021. A cantonment (, , or ) is a military quarters. In Bangladesh, India and other parts of South Asia, a ''cantonment'' refers to a permanent military station (a term from the British India, colonial-era). In military of the United States, United States military parlance, a cantonment is, essentially, "a permanent residential section (i.e. barrack) of a fort or other military installation," such as Fort Hood. Infantry
Infantry is a military specialization which engages in ground combat on foot. Infantry generally consists of light infantry, mountain infantry, motorized infantry & mechanized infantry, airborne infantry, air assault infantry, and marine infantry. A division is a large military unit or Formation (military), formation, usually consisting of between 6,000 and 25,000 soldiers. 7th Infantry Division (Bangladesh)
The 7th Infantry Division is a formation of the Bangladesh Army. It's located in ''Lebukhali'' of Patuakhali District. This is the first Bangladesh Army formation in the Barisal Division. It was formed as part of the development vision of Bangladesh Armed Forces Forces Goal 2030. This project will have an estimated cost of Tk. 16.99 billion and will be implemented by Ministry of Defence. Construction Barisal Division had no army installment and had to rely on 55 Infantry Divisions. To ensure security and the capability of Army in the country's southern area the decision was made to set up a new infantry division and cantonment in Lebukhali in 2016 as part of the Forces Goal 2030. Patuakhali
Patuakhali ( bn, পটুয়াখালী ''Potuakhali'') is a town and district headquarter of Patuakhali District located on the southern bank of Laukathi river in the division of Barisal in Bangladesh. It is the administrative headquarter of Patuakhali district and one of the oldest towns and municipalities in the country. Patuakhali municipality was established in 1892. The town covers an area of 27.03 km2 with a population of 65,000 according to 2011 census. Title There are different opinions about the origin of the name "Patuakhali". Forces Goal 2030
Forces Goal 2030 is a military modernization program of the Bangladesh Armed Forces which began in 2009 and revised in 2017, designed to the capabilities of the three services of the Bangladesh armed forces: the Army, the Navy and the Air Force. The primary focus of the modernization program is the reformation of the military organization, expansion of the forces, the transformation of the indigenous defense sector to support research and manufacturing, and acquisition of modern military weapons. The requirement for modernization was realized in the aftermath of 2008 Bangladesh–Myanmar naval standoff later resulting in Bangladesh's favour.
